Hopefully it’ll work as I wasn’t going to comment until you brought it up, but
you tried sending it to me back in January and it didn’t work. I was hoping it
was something I did wrong. And it would work for the others.

Subject: Few questions regarding my Mac laptop

Hello everyone,

I have had my Mac laptop for a while now. It is something I really want
to learn how to use. But I seem to be struggling with it.

First of all, can I connect my 2 external hard drives to the mac?

They are currently connected to my windows laptop, and so I wasn't sure
if they could be connected to the Mac.

Also, a while back, I asked about Zoom Text for the Mac, and possibly
using the Mac's magnification. My boyfriend is visually impaired, and
has some useable vision.

We tried the command that was recommended. But this just seemed to turn
on and off the bacllight for the keyboard. So I don't know if we did
something wrong. Or if this Mac I have is different, or works differently.

It's running Yosemitte.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

Hi Listerrs,

Ok so a craziesh question for those who like being crazy.

Has anyone on the list got or know of a VO user with an iPad pro that also uses
an apple pencil?

I’ve tried using the pencil previously and thought it was a joke being blind
and trying to do precission detail work on an iPad with the pencil,
But now that I own and want to do more with my iPad pro I’m starting to wonder
if the pencil might be of use for somethings such as signing of documents via
word or pages / pdf files etc,
Or handwriting for taking notes
And just because I can trying to draw / sketch things if tring to demonstrate
or for reports etc.

I’m just wondering how if anyone else has tried, how did they get on?

Thanks for any info folks can provide.

Great Report, Simon.

I look forward to your next one, especially your Face ID experience.

Yes, the phone is surprisingly slim when compared to iPhone 8 Plus.

Based on your statement, may we assume that you are using a pass code to unlock
your 10? or are you, "going commando", (big smile) with no password protection
whatsoever. (smile)

Hi Mark,

Well I have to admit that I didn't get it until 5:30pm lastnight so when I got
to the setting up face id section I skipped it as the light was getting low and
it seemed I couldn’t' look directly at the screen.

So I'll leave that until the weekend and set it up then.

Interesting the using the device without a home button but it's not that
difficult once you get use to the slide up the screen.

What I really have noticed is its speed and simple quickness when performing a
task on screen.

And I am very surprised by the size,
I thought it would be larger than it is.

After using a 7+ I'm inclined to think it's even sdmaller than the 7 or 8, yet
I believe it's slightly larger.

Still a lot of working things out before I really get use to it.

More to report as things move forward.

Hi List,

So today I received notification from my mobile provider that my iPhone X had
arrived,

And quite frankly it’s like being on a first date,

I’m kind of concerned about touching it in case I do something wrong,

I will say that setting up the device out of the box and using iCloud backups
doesn’t work when your back ups are on IOS Public beta versions, and the new
device was IOS 11 production release…

A bit of playing allowed me to reset the device back to the factory start point
and run through without an issue

So far after playing around for an hour or so, I’m actually really impressed
with what they have done,

Once you get passed the fact there is no home button it’s actually easy to work
with the slide finger up to get the app switcher and home screens.

The device is very quick, and although smaller physically it’s stil got great
screen realestate to work with,

So I’d say so far it’s been worth the wait but still more playing around to
come over the next couple of days

At least the iPhone x doesn’t slap me if I put my hand in the wrong place.

Apple has their At Home service team. The At Home Support workers work from
their homes. This is all of Apple's phone support, whether general or
accessibility. The calls are all managed on VOIP, and the support person is

I went through the first interview for this position in Australia, but found a

Yep, really. I have no idea why. I didn't hit the watch on anything, drop it
etc., but the face came loose from the watch. It's still attached by the cable
underneath, but it's not attached to the frame, it just hangs there loose. I
can literally put my finger underneath and feel what's in there. Has anyone
seen or heard of this? does anyone know if it's fixable? At the moment, I
have it taped down with scotch tape, just to keep debris out.
TIA,
Donna

Also how about the thread message list? is that gone too? or are there some

Yes. Noticeable decrease in speaker performance from iPhone 6 Plus to
iPhone 6S Plus. It was quite a disappointment, and I know it’s not just me
either. I’m not going back, though, because the 6S Plus still has the
better specs and wicked-fast Touch ID.

definitely a quality difference. Can tell if it's worse quality or not but it
seems muffled. No case on either. Has anyone else noticed this?

Weird, ever since I got my 6S back last October, I've never noticed too much
distortion. Maybe a little bit, but it's very suttle if any, and I normally
do! run mine if not all the way up, at least maybe 1 notch away from all the
way. Granted, I'm using the Siri Male voice, but even when I used Alex a few
times, I don't recall having this issue. I think the only voice I've found
that does! distort like crazy is Symantha.

If it’s on a full volume any iPhone speaker will definitely distort the
volume. I had an issue with my 6S Plus when i purchased about 3 weeks ago where
Alex would often chop off and clip out but updating to 9.3 resolved the issue.
