Hi Donna,

Do you mean Aira? If so then I believe they would. Its still in early beta to
my knowledge so they have not released to many details on this.

Hi all,

I have a question about these glasses. Do they require a subscription to Era?
Thanks,

Hi, if you go to meta.com you could read all about the Ray-Ban Maya Smart
glasses. They’re also sold at Amazon. There’s a few different styles I believe
three styles there are $300 with some of the colors and newer styles. go up in
price to about 379 I believe but the beta site will tell you all the prices.

Sorry if this might be a little off-topic, but I recently heard an ad for

these glasses and if they are a good or helpful device for a totally blind
person? Are the Ray-Ban glasses anything like the Orcam. Also are they Apple

Any first-hand info about them is appreciated. I’ve looked on line and it lists
specs, but I’m not finding if they are helpful for a blind person.

RE: Concerned about the future Mac accessibility

2023-09-07 Thread josephlhodge
I am normally not a Doom and gloom person, but my experience with the beta
has been very poor. Using Safari or Microsoft Edge if I'm moving by Headings
or controls voiceover often crashes and I cannot bring it back. So much with
web navigation is broken. Top it all off with my message this morning in
that if I'm just moving literally with the right and left arrow keys through
a page speech is stopping it's very awful. I'm hoping that maybe just all of
the voice over things haven't made it into the beta and there will be this
moment where clarity happens but sadly the Mac doesn't get the sort of
support it needs from the community and requesting that things get better. I
actually downgraded my computer back to the current OS and am going to let
folks report back to what they see. I did file tickets, so I am hopeful. To
be honest I wouldn't buy a Mac at this moment until I see the end result of
the final product. I love the Mac hardware nothing really rivals it, but for
us accessibility is just not trending in the right direction.

Hi all, it seems like we are having more than a few messages on this list
about the disappointment in Mac’s VoiceOver performance.

Are quite a few of you thinking of switching back to windows? Or are a lot
of you overall still happy with the VoiceOver experience?

I think I am mostly curious about this, because I have been talking about
updating my MacBook Eyre. I guess part of me is beginning to wonder, should
I get a Windows laptop instead? I would be very disappointed to spend $900
on a MacBook Air, and still have a lot of performance issues.

What are your guises thoughts?

Thank you,

RE: Strange issue with Site in firefox and VoiceOver.

Firefox is a different architecture in that what is powering Safari and Firefox
is completely different. It’s not surprising to me that things would be a bit
different from time to time. Now if you were using two Chromium browsers and
had different experiences then I would be a bit more perplexed.

Hi!

I have a page in Swedish where firefox and Voiceover doesn’t work properly
together.

It’s nearly impossible to navigate the page because things work so slow on
just that page.
https://friapsalmboken.blogspot.com/2018/11/halsokallan-flodde.html

It works properly in Safari so I don’t see why its a pain in the but to view in
Firefox.

RE: Connecting a PC to an iPhone mobile hot spot?

2023-08-02 Thread josephlhodge
For me that isn’t the case. When using my Mac lets say I am streaming some
music yes the Hotspot stays active. However, if I lets say download a 30 minute
radio program once I listen to that and go back to try and use data from my Mac
connected to my hotspot its disconnected and I have to reestablish connecting
to the hotspot on my Mac. It is easier since as you mentioned you have the
Apple tie in, but its annoying none the less.

Hmm. Well, all I can say is that when I connect my Mac, I don’t have to have
the hot spot screen open, and it stays connected until I close the lid on my
Mac.

Cheers,

Donna

By chance did you connect to zoom then connect the airpods? I haven’t done this

I believe I heard that if you put the microphone input to the Mac instead of

RE: Any thoughts on the future of MacBook Pros in light of this WWDC?

2021-06-08 Thread josephlhodge
I think too Apple is facing chip shortages as are most other companies and may
just not be able to deliver the quantity they would want. The other factor may
be that they are just not ready to update the 16 model quite yet as that group
are heavy profetionals and they maybe trying to get a even more powerful chip.
This is why listening to rumors is okay but should be taken with a grain of
sault.

Subject: Any thoughts on the future of MacBook Pros in light of this WWDC?

Guys,

I hope this note finds all of you staying safe and healthy and doing well.
I'm’ writing because my wife and I just finished reading the highlights from
the WWDC and were disappointed to see nothing about a new MacBook Pro to go
with the upcoming Mac OS Monterey. Considering that a new iMac came out just
recently, and further considering that it’s been a while since the 16 inch
MacBook Pro got any love, I’m wondering if any of you have any opinions on how
long the current 16 inch machine will remain the flagship of the MacBook line.

Personally, I can’t imagine that sighted users won’t want state of the art
hardware in a 16 inch form factor because they believe in screens and so on.
If I’m wrong,… oh well.

While we don’t necessarily think in visual terms about stuff like this. This
list comprises a group of the most Mac savvy people I know and I’d be
interested if you’d be willing to share your opinions on what the future holds
for laptop hardware in Mac land.

I should get around to saying that my wife and I haven’t upgraded our Mac
hardware since we bought a Mac mini for me and a 27 inch iMac for her in 2010.
We haven’t been able to upgrade the OS on that hardware in years, (10.12.6,)
and we just want to avoid buying new hardware that will, itself be frozen in,
say, one OS upgrade. See the problem?

All of you may decide not to express an opinion on any of this. But I’D be
grateful for any thoughts you’d be willing to share.

Thanks,
Kevin

The ANC button is the long button that isn't the digital crown. With your
