smart tv's

2017-08-13 Thread Terrence Sanders

Hello listers,

On this subject, I too am looking for a Samsung tv that has the
voice guide.  The problem is that I live in Costa Rica and if I buy a tv
and it turns out not to talk, in this country, I can't return it.  So, I
need the model number of a 32 inch that definitely talks.  If any one
has this info I sure would appreciate it.  Thanks.

networking question

2015-06-15 Thread Terrence Sanders

Hello listers,

I am a new macbook pro user. While trying to get my mbp to show up
on my home network, I have discovered that in the sharing section of
system preferences the windows account with my name is dimmed and can
not be clicked. Yes, I have folders shared and yes, I have file sharing
clicked. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to get my mbp to be
shared on the network I sure would appreciate it. I would like to
transfer files from my windows pc. Thanks in advance.

E-sword bible program

2015-05-05 Thread Terrence Sanders

Hello group,

After reading your posts for a couple of years I finally bought a
macbook pro. I am definitely learning a lot. Now, I need a Bible
program for it. I read that the E-sword works for iPhone. But, before
paying for it, I need to know does it work with the mac? Thanks for any
help. If not this program, then what Bible program will work on the mac?

RE: iPhone VO home button oddity

2009-09-15 Thread terrence
When I was having some trouble with my iPhone and called tech support,
one of the comments the guy made was that they get a lot of people who
call in because they've turned VO on by accident, and this was *before*
the tripple-tap thing. He was glad to see someone was actually using VO
and enjoying it.

RE: Victor Reader Soft Macintosh

2009-09-08 Thread terrence
If it's Victor, I'm thinking it's probably by Humanware, in which case
it should be accessible. Humanware's only disability that they target,
or at least their main one anyway, is VI, so Victor should be
accessible.

Need Advice: OCR

2009-09-02 Thread Terrence

Not sure if my other message went through, so I'm posting it again;
please forgive any repeats.
After spending $249 on Premier Assistive Technology's literacy package
because of the scan-and-read functionality, I have decided the thing's
not all it's cracked up to be, since it opened in an X11 window and
didn't work at all with VO. So now I'm doing what I think I should
have done in the first place instead of listening to the general AT
specialist who spoke on the Mac at our local AT conference; I'm on my
knees to the true experts...fellow users. What do you all all use for
OCR tochnology that *works*? I know there's been a lot of discussion
about OCR experimenting lately, but I need something that's going to
work with a minimum of finagling so I can spend my time *READING* the
documents I scan rather than fighting with the software. True I like
putzing, but for my day-to-day stuff I'd really prefer not to have to
do that more than necessary.

Thanks,
Terrence

OCR Recommendations?

2009-09-02 Thread terrence
Hello all,
I need some advice. I needed an OCR solution, so I went on what I'd
heard from a local conference presenter at our latest AT conference and
got the system from Premier. To my dismay, it ran in X11, and did *NOT*
work with VO. So I have 2 questions:
Has anyone gotten Premier's scan-and-read program to work? If so,
what's the trick to it?
What OCR are you all using and having success with. I'd like to spend
my time reading the things I scan, not fighting with the scanner.

Thanks,
Terrence

RE: SMTP rethinking

Hmm, I'm not actually using the e-mail address that came with my ISP;
I'm using one from my own domain name that I have through GoDaddy. I've
only had difficulty with it using AppleMail for some reason...at this

SMTP rethinking

2009-08-30 Thread terrence
Hello again, all,
I've been thinking about my SMTP issue again, and I'm wondering if
perhaps this isn't one of those servers that expect the user to be
logged into the pop server first. If this is the case, how would I tell
Mail to do that?
I tried to find the snoop command someone was talking about, but
couldn't seem to find it. Is it maybe called something else?
Also, can someone perhaps recommend a different mail program that I
might have better luck with?

Transferring files from Icon to Mac--SSH a possibility?

2009-08-27 Thread terrence
Hello, again,
I know, I'm just full of questions today...please forgive me. But one
more if you'll permit me: I have a whole bunch of stuff on an Icon that
I want to move to my Mac Mini in order to sell the Icon (it got ousted
by my iPhone.) My question is, what would you all recommend as the most
efficient way to move the files to my Mac? Does the Mac have SSH? I'm
thinking perhaps that might be an option. And/or, does the Mac have a
way to access files that are shared on the Icon and get the stuff
ransferred that way?

Thanks yet again,
Terrence

RE: 2 Questions: Dialogs and SMTP

2009-08-27 Thread terrence
Ah, OK, will have to check on my cursor tracking then.
For the messages, I just get a dialog box that says the message couldn't
be sent using the server I'd chosen, and giving me the options to choose
a server, send with the selected server, try later, etc.

Thanks again,
Terrence

2 Questions: Dialogs and SMTP

2009-08-27 Thread terrence
Hello, all,
Sometimes when an alert/dialog pops up, VO doesn't switch to it. Is
there a way to move to it without using the mouse?
On another note, I'm having trouble with setting up outgoing mail (SMTP)
servers. I got the thing set up OK, and Connection Doctor says that the
connection worked, but I can never send messages through that SMTP
server. My iPhone, however, sends messages through that server with no
problem. I've checked that the settings are the same and they seem to
be identical. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? And/or, are
there other recommended mail clients besides AppleMail?

Thanks,
Terrence

How do I access messages in these mailboxes? I have messages being
moved to them, but I can't seem to find those folders to read the

Thanks,

Mic not working in Garage Band, and simple recording program?

2009-08-20 Thread terrence
Hello, all,
I'm using Garage Band with the standard line-in source selected, but I'm
not getting any sound, despite having my input level as high as it will
go in both Garage Band itself and in System Preferences. The mic is one
of these headset mics with a plug for the headset and one for the mic.
Also, is there a simpler program than Garage Band? I just want to be
able to push record and run with it.

Thanks,
Terrence
