Re: A Basic Question on Changing Sound Sources

2022-06-07 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
A VoiceOver search i.e. VO with the F key or using item chooser could let you
jump directly to the output output source that you want without moving through
the other fields.

Kelly, go to the extra's menu and access the volume. In there you will be
able to access your outputs without activating them. I'm not in front of my
Mac so can't give exact steps but this should get you going.

Re: A Basic Question on Changing Sound Sources

2022-06-07 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

This is due to the mouse cursor following the VO cursor, which is the preferred
configuration in my opinion. To get around this, once you enter the table of
output choices, press VO-shift-f3 to turn cursor tracking off. This does
though create a complication when trying to select the output choice. You
either need to then route the mouse to the VO cursor with VO-FN-cmd-f5, or go
one up or down from the one you wish to choose, turn cursor tracking back on
with VO-shift-f3 then move up or down to the desired choice for the selection
to take effect.

I hope this makes sense.

Later…

Hi, kelly.
When in the list have you tried typing the first letter of the usb device to

A Basic Question on Changing Sound Sources

2022-06-07 Thread Kelly Ford
Hi,

Maybe I’m missing it but is there a way to move through the list of sound
sources for output and not have each sound source selected as you move. For
example, if my Mac output is set to speakers, the next item in order in my list
of sound sources in the table is my Apple TV device. The third is a USB sound
device I have connected.

Late at night, I want to switch to the USB device but it often first results in
some sound going to the Apple TV.

I’m interacting with the table of devices with output selected in the Sound
item in System Preferences.
