Therefore, I was giving another alternative. Trust me, I know how Chrome

Dear List, I have been using sleipnir browser on my mac for a long time, but
recently there has been a major reduction in performance. I wondered if
anyone knew of another voice over accessible safari alternative. I know that
chrome works, but I hate google, and firefox just keeps saying busy, and is
completely unusable.

Many Thanks, Lee

Re: Alternative Browsers for Mac

2016-01-11 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
Not really, no. It's pretty disgusting! They keep saying they're gonna fix
it, but never do. I've pretty much given up entirely on the Mozilla
project. The only place I find Firefox honestly to be worthwhile is on
Android, but again, that's neither here nor there. Make it clear that I'm
not saying it doesn't perform well on I O S. It does, but I honestly, call
me stupid if you wish to do so, don't find a need for it there. Why, when
Safari works beautifully for the most part on I O S to start with. OK, yes,
there are some places where it may perform not so well, but you're gonna get
that with all web browsers to some degree.

I have Firefox on my IPhone as a backup, but it only gets opened maybe once
every few weeks. In fact, I don't even recall the last time that I did!
open it.

Re: Alternative Browsers for Mac

2016-01-11 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
It’s not entirely Mozilla’s fault that Firefox isn’t accessible on OS X,
though. The way that Apple makes accessibility APIs heavily dependent on cocoa
and Objective-C is a big part of it.

Which is a shame, because I’d love to be able to use Thunderbird on OS X, too.

Re: Alternative Browsers for Mac

I tend to be right there with Sadam. We don't disbelieve you, but it
definitely isn't working over here. I deliberetly booted up a Yosemite
installation I have on an external drive, installed the most recent version
from

http://www.getfirefox.com

and I'm very sorry to bust your bubble, Mr. Sparrow, but it's not working
hardly at all here in regards to reading the web content area. It works,
yes, but each time I down arrow, or for that mind, hit vo+right arrow, It
almost 100% of the time for about 10 seconds goes busy.

Even quick nav doesn't help, and neither does numpad commander, so don't go
there.

Again, can you make an audio demo demonstration which not only shows you
navigating successfully and responsively but also shows us you openning the
browser either from your finder, or from your dock?

You're kidding me! And it didn't say busy busy busy almost constantly?

You're definitely the first one I know then who has gotten it to work. I
didn't say it's not accessible. I just said when navigating through the
content of any web site, it locks up almost constantly.

Can you perhaps record an audio demo showing this to us? It's not I don't
