Laz, is Amazon fire tablets Accessibility with Voice view screen reader
Hi all, Because I shared this resource for Phil, I wanted to correct some of my information. The contact for accessible editions of the amazon fire etc. is laz, l...@talkingmp3players.com The site, I believe was correct. www.talkingmp3players.com I do not own these devices. However I have witnessed first hand the attention to detail and dedication Laz has for helping those who desire using them do so in the most inclusive way possible. Can't see a problem with a blind guy owning a telescope, could be a good pickup line. Like my 4k ultra high def 55 inch tv which is really a waist when I can't see my hand when it's touching my face. Speaking of tv Can you not setup some kind of screen sharing between your phone and a tv or computer monitor to watch your videos on that I can connect my phone to my tv and play video that way so others can see on a larger screen And Samsung have an app that lets me share with my tv although I've never got it working properly! -Original Message- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Phil Halton Sent: Tuesday, 10 December 2019 3:12 AM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Amazon fire tablets Accessibility with Voice view screen reader I have an iPhone and I do use Prime Video on that. Phil, There is a company specializing is insuring Amazon fire tablets are accessible, configuring to our specifications, and pricing them even better than Amazon. www.talkingmp3players.com I hope I have that correct. If not, write me off list and I will connect you to the owner. I cannot speak to their use first hand. However, if anyone can answer your questions its Lars. Re: Amazon fire tablets Accessibility with Voice view screen reader
The Amazon Kindle Tablets are very restricted Android tablets. They are low cost. Unfortunately, the screen response, at least on mine, which is four years old, is quite laggy. I usually need to tap with extra-firm pressure in order to get the touch screen to react. Also, Voice View is extremely locked down (not configurable or customisable). There are many Android tablets which are significantly better than the Amazon Kindle tablets. Some are not much more expensive than the Amazon. Personally, I will be upgrading to the next Samsung flagship tablet, the one which will replace the Samsung Tab S6. It has several features which I want. Also, I like having products from both Android and iOS. I currently have an iPad pro 10.5 and a Samsung Note 10 + 5G. I am planning to go to an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the Samsung Tab S7. I want Braille Screen Input and the significantly better selection and copying features in iOS. I am only frustrated that it appears that Apple will most likely not be upgrading to the USBC port from the Lightning port. The Samsung Tab S6 allows Samsung Dex to run directly on the tablet, which allows up to 5 apps to be open in different windows on the tablet simultaneously, and allows me to do computer and file related tasks which iOS and iPadOS do not allow. Re: Amazon fire tablets Accessibility with Voice view screen reader
I owned one and it was a headache. This was two years ago so perhaps accessibility has improved a bit since then but still... One thing I will say though is that it was really handy having Alexa right there! I have an echo gen 2 in my kitchen now though and that works out fine as far as needing Alexa is concerned. I use the kindel app and the amazon app on my iPhone all the time and the accessibility is quite good. I'd put down a bit more cash and go for the basic iPad for $329. I'll be doing this at some point in the new year although part of me wants to wait until the next generation because maybe they'll bump up the storage and processor for the basic iPad model... Re: Amazon fire tablets Accessibility with Voice view screen reader
I have had a couple of those tablets, and I have sworn off of them. The speakers are lousy. The screen lags something crazy. They have very little storage space, which means you need to buy cards, and then if you’re unlucky like I was, the card reader will die, and you need to buy a new device. Been there done that, no more. Amazon fire tablets Accessibility with Voice view screen reader
Has anybody use the Voice view screen reader on the Amazon fire tablets? How's the accessibility? I might want to get one just for watching prime video and maybe reading kindle books.
