JavaScript feature in HTML 5. There us a function to use the search bar. Most 
browsers have an override for. Not sure about Safari.

Google is set to my default search engine in Safari preferences, but every now 
and then when I do a search it uses Bing for some reason. Sometimes, I'm not 
sure why, it will use Google as it should, but other times it uses Bing. Really 
odd. I'll call Apple about it tomorrow as it's a pretty weird problem that they 
might be able to help me with.

Odd. Not happening here. In Safari Preferences General there is a 
Default search engine popup button. You should be able to pick Google, 
Yahoo or Bing, close that window and be done. Is that not happening for you?

Bing Replacing Google as Default Search Engine in Safari on OS X

For some reason, even though Google is set as my default search engine in 
Safari preferences, searches I perform in the Safari search/address bar keep 
being performed by Bing. This is really annoying not to  mention a little 
sinister. What's Bing up to. Is this happening to anyone else or is this just 
me? I think it might be one for me to ask the Apple tech support peeps.
