Supposedly accessed when booting from a Windows 7 disc. I gave up
trying and restored a year-old VM. Still updating some things but its
going well.

Re: Boot from Windows disc in Fusion

2018-08-04 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi ET,

Theoretically yes you should be able to do it.

You would have to have the vm start offf the ISO image of the windows
installation media and then enterrr into the recovery mode of windows.

I haven’t doen this myself but it should be able to be done.

I did put a windows 10 vm into the boot options the other day but I still can’t
figure out how I did it.

But what is it you need to do with in the vm that neds to be done in recovery?

Re: Boot from Windows disc in Fusion

2018-08-02 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
I don't have Fusion, so I can't help there. You'll have to boot the ISO image,
then try to invoke Microsoft Narrator with Windows-Ctrl-Enter - however that
maps to your Apple keyboard.

Next time, I suggest keeping snapshots so that if anything becomes corrupt, you
can quickly revert to a known working version. I don't know whether Fusion can
do this, but it probably can. I've used KVM under Linux, a virtualization tool
that can definitely do this.

Re: Boot from Windows disc in Fusion

2018-08-02 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
I think the basic idea is that you download an ISO 9660 image, and specify that
to your VM software as the boot device. A Web search or two should provide the
details, which depend on the VM tools you're using.
