Hi mat,
The worst that could happen is it starts up on the external drive or just
doesn't start as the external doesn't have a bootable system.
When you have windows up and running,
Plug your external drive in and then search from the start menu for disk
management,
In this find the drive and see if you can change the drive letter and see if
that changes anything for you.

Hi folks.
So I've got windows 10, on my 2018 mini.
Weird thing, so I've formatted my external drive for ntfs.
Now when I go in the boot camp control panel, it shows 2 windows bootcamps.
If I unplug the exturnal USB drive, the one version of bootcamp goes away.
Just wondering what would happen if I picked the wrong drive to start up in,
what would happen?
