Just a few updates ...

DAISY and Epub have indeed merged--past tense. It's a done deal.

Furthermore, the IDPF, which had been creating Epub, has merged into the
W3C. The hope is to have HTML fully support publishing requirements.

I know there is a Microsoft plugin for word, but I am not aware of much
else. I believe that the ePub and Daisy standards are merging but I have
not kept up with this as much as I would like.

Are you looking to do a text only Daisy or are you planning on a
recording?  I believe that one of the competitors to Victor Reader Stream
can record daisy audio.
