Hello, Just for something to try, I reset the energy saver preferences to factory defaults and the situation improved considerably. I have a hard drive in this mac mini with no SSD. As others have mentioned, I would suspect a piece of code that is waiting forI/O probably network based that is not occurring or takes a while to get in sync. If you turn off WiFi and disconnect any physical ethernet connections to you still have a delay? Usually on my systems I get a few mentions of applications starting in background and if I have been lazy and have a dozen applications running that can take a while. Also, Do you have any apps like dropbox installed? Here on my imac 2013 my machine comes up and only takes a few seconds to load the finder. I did do a clean install as I have had some issues with my machine booting, but a restore saulved things and now all is well.
