HOW MUCH HARD DRIVE SPACE HAVE I GOT LEFT?

2009-03-21 Thread Simon Cavendish

DEAR LISTERS,

HOW CAN I FIND OUT HOW MUCH HARD DISK SPACE I HAVE GOT LEFT?

IF I WERE TO RUN OUT OF HARD DRIVE SPACE, COULD SOME OF YOU E-MAIL ME
PRIVATELY AND SHARE YOUR WAYS OF DEALING WITH THIS? WHAT WOULD BE MY
OPTIONS?

WITH MANY THANKS, SIMON

Re: HOW MUCH HARD DRIVE SPACE HAVE I GOT LEFT?

2009-03-21 Thread Esther

Hello Simon,

To find out how much hard disk space you have left, select your drive
in Finder and do a "Get Info" with Command-I. Use item chooser menu
to look for "Capacity", then VO-Right Arrow. You'll read the entries
for Capacity in GB and then the available space. There are other ways
to find this from terminal or from disk utility or using the system
profiler, and maybe someone else has a quicker solution.

Cheers,

Esther

Hi Ester; This question reminded me about one of my own. In my
desktop it shows applications, users, library,, and system; but it
also shows something called previous system that is taking up over 15
gb on my harddrive. Can you tell me what this is and if I'm allowed
to delete it should space become critical. Thank you, Max

Re: HOW MUCH HARD DRIVE SPACE HAVE I GOT LEFT?

2009-03-22 Thread Mark Baxter

When you're in Finder, go to the desktop and select your computer's
name. Hit command I. Thing brings up info on the selected file or
folder or, in this case, volume. Interact with the scroll area, and
use VO navigation to navigate around. You will hear things like
"name," and "kind," and "last modified," and eventually, you should
hear "capacity," and a number, then "available," and a number. The
available number is your answer. When you've gotten all the info you
want out of this window, simply close it.
\I hope that's what you were looking for. I also hope I'm not the 8th
person to post an answer... :)

2009-03-23 Thread Alex Jurgensen

Hi,

Go to Finder and press "CMD" + "SHFT" + "C" and navigate to the volume
you want to check. Then press "CTRL" + "CMD" + "I" to bring up the
information dialog. Then find the size.

Thanks,
Alex,

Re: HOW MUCH HARD DRIVE SPACE HAVE I GOT LEFT?

2009-03-23 Thread Alex Jurgensen

Hi,

Previous system is all the files from a previous system when you do an
archive and install. If you don't need any of these files you can
delete it.

Thanks,
Alex,
