Gerry,
Thanks for checking with Apple Accessibility.  Switching to list mode does 
help.  However, I’m so used to working with column view that I may just live 
with the annoyance for now.

Hi ET Tim and Chris,  I have the issue when i updated to hi sierra,  and on 
chatting to apple accessibility, they said its a voiceover bug that identifies 
folders as groups in column view with voiceover,  they claim its just a 
terminology,  and they say it should be fix in future updates.  so when i 
changed to list view,  i don’t seem to get as much.  that’s all the information 
i was given.  all the best.

High Seria - everything in finder identified as a "group"

Hello,
I just upgraded to HS and noticed something different in the finder.  voiceOver 
identifies almost everything as a group rather than as a folder, application or 
other file type.  Is there a setting to change/correct this behavior?
