Re: Mail classic view in Catalina

2019-10-13 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hello,

yes, it feels like classic layout, kind of. But actually it’s more like a
mixture of classic and conversation layout. I’d rather have the old clasic
layout back. ;-)

Now they are sounding like Microsoft windows renaming classic view to something
else because it is a classic view?
How about we fix the bugs before release, and what version of bugs is this one
fixing? Because I still see bugs from elCapiton voiceover don’t see but the
sighted do.

Hello,

I am currently on ~page 10 of I believe 15 of this review. The page I am
currently on is:
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/10/macos-10-15-catalina-the-ars-technica-review/11/

This page is discussing the changes to the APFS file systems in Catalina,
including making all system files read only. I believe you had asked about
that. It appears from what I have read so far, that iCloud is still managed the
same way within the Library directory. The only mention I found was about the
new Podcast support where Andrew provided a specific path to where to find
you’re Podcasts.
Best Wishes,
Jonathan

Thanks for this, Jonathan. Not sure when I'm going to upgrade - I'll probably
wait till they get some of the bugs worked out. But I'm glad to know there's a
way to continue using Classic View.
Cheers,
Donna

Mail classic view in Catalina

2019-10-13 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I have started to read the ArzTechnica review of Catalina as an activity for
preparing to upgrade. In the section on the Mail Application I found the
following:

...The sole visual change only applies if you use the Classic layout, which
normally condenses your list of messages and displays the current message below
the list rather than to the right; you can now use the condensed message list
view and keep the message pane on the right. Since you can't update something
called the "Classic layout" and keep calling it the "Classic layout," the
setting has moved from the Preferences screen to the View menu; check Use
Column Layout to condense the message list, and uncheck Show Side Preview to
get back to the classic-classic layout….

I know there are some on this list who enjoy Classic layout, so perhaps this
will be of use.

Re: Mail classic view

2011-07-31 Thread Chris Moore
Yes I have seen this too, and it happens in standard view also. I think it has
something to do with Mail sorting the items into newest first, previously the
oldest message would appear first. I have reported this to Apple, I suggest you
do the same.

Mail classic view

2011-07-31 Thread Shen
Hi,
Wondering if anyone has seen this. You probably have to have your Mail setup
the same as mine to see this behavior. I have my Mail set to classic view, and
group messages by conversation.
I generally put VoiceOver on the subject line since I don't really need to know
who is sending the emails.
OK, so I arrow to a conversation. I arrow left once to hear the sender. Now
let's say I arrow up or down away from that conversation, then decided to go
back. This time, a different name is in the from field.
I have not opened the conversation ahd have not read any messages in this
conversation. Yet, the second time when I see the sender, it is different from
the first time.
I can't pinpoint any particular pattern. But it seems to be happening randomly.
Has anyone seen this behavior?
