What,
8gig ram isn’t enough,

I have the same issue and I never saw anyone else with it until this E-Mail. I
have a Mac mini from 2014 and it only has eight gigs of RAM. In my case, I have
pretty much narrowed it down to not having enough memory. Don’t know exactly
why VO is targeted, but I know memory is a problem for me. Unfortunately, I
can’t upgrade to more memory. I am very angry at this fact.

When VO crashes for me, I do a command+shift+q and log out and then back in.
Sometimes I have to do it a couple of times before VO will come back up.

I intended upon doing a fresh install last time but neglected to wipe the disk

How do I look through the logs to see what is going on? If a clean fresh

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Mojave not workingg well for me

2019-01-18 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello Kristeen,

As far as the crashing is concerned I think my fresh clean install has fixed
that. Did you just install over the previous version of Mac OS X? I’ve just
noticed that in my security section of system prefs some startup program has
been blocked and there’s a button to allow. As there is no indication of what
it is it can stay as it is because if that is creating the problem it is better
being blocked.

I also note that Mojave didn’t like the Software I installed for my Samsung
phone. Nor did it like some Adobe flash program. So these are have been removed.

As for me, it has been pretty steady since I formatted the disk and used the
migration assistant to restore from a time machine backup. My old brailliant
doesn’t work, lucky I rely more on the speech output and need the braille when
I’m mis-hearing things that VO won’t let me explore character by character.

Have you reported it to:

accessibil...@apple.com

It is really a drag when it is like that, I hope you find a solution.

All the best,

Gena

it could still be useful !to try with a new account on your machine. Just go
into system preferences and click the add account button. After testing it is
just as easy to delete the account.

Hello Jonathan,

As I have said and now Jason has said. It has worked previously but doesn’t
work now. You have the newer version. If Apple are going to deprecate braille
support for certain braille displays then they should be open with the
community. But as I sent the text from the accessibility team suggests that
this problem is not intentional and they are looking into it.

I’ll state again. The Brailliant worked on previous versions of OS X and works
on the installer of Mojave but when Mojave is installed the display does not
work. I hope the accessibility team are genuine in stating that it is being
looked at.

Good for you in that you have a newer model but your observations do not apply
to the original Brailliant.

When I last tried it, my Baum SuperVario 40 braille display (the original
“Brailliant” device as marketed by HumanWare – a Baum display under a different
name) did not work under Mojave. It had previously worked well. To be specific,
the display went into sleep mode when connected via USB, and VoiceOver no
longer recognized that a braille display was connected.

I have only used the Brilliant in bluetooth mode when working with MacOS. I’ll
try it with a cable tonight and let you know my experience. There was a
Brilliant Firmware update available via the HumanWare Windows installer tool
that I received last month. I have no idea what was in that firmware, and you
can probably only do the update in Windows.

Keep us up to date, with your issue Please.

I am able

 Hello All,

I have a Mac Mini 2013 with 16GB of RAM. All previous upgrades have gone
well. However, just before Christmas I upgraded to Mojave and I keep
having some kind of VoiceOver crash. I have reinstalled Mojave 3 times
now. Each time it works well for a week or so. Then I get busy notices. I
can leave it and it doesn't calm down. If I CMD + tab it crashes i.e.
VoiceOver will not talk nor restart. When I try to restart although VO
does not speak sound has not crashed as time announcements are announced
as configured. I have set all voice output to Daniel. If I leave the
machine for a while the same crash occurs. I can CMD + w and q in an
attempt to close running applications. I can Eject + CTL and shutdown
which works. It is something to do with VoiceOver but I haven't seen
anyone else have the same issues. I have a Brailliant 40 display connected
via USB which doesn't work during normal operation. However, it does
 during the install process.

I intended upon doing a fresh install last time but neglected to wipe the
 disk first.

How do I look through the logs to see what is going on? If a clean fresh
install does not fix these issues. What other investigations can I
 undertake?

 Any help would be appreciated.

Hi!
Hmm, if the brailliant worked in previous versions that’s very strange indeed.
I don’t have a brailliant but can’t the brailliant displays emulate Handytech
displays?
You might try that first.
Does other things work on this port you connected your braille display to?
Might be worth checking.

shutdown which works. It is something to do with VoiceOver but I haven't seen
anyone else have the same issues. I have a Brailliant 40 display connected via
USB which doesn't work during normal operation. However, it does during the
install process.

I intended upon doing a fresh install last time but neglected to wipe the disk
first.

How do I look through the logs to see what is going on? If a clean fresh
install does not fix these issues. What other investigations can I undertake?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
