Re: Navigating by page/discovering page number in Voice Dream Reader?

2020-10-22 Thread 'Catherine Turner' via MacVisionaries
Hi Phil,

Thanks for the info. I’ve trid a different book now.which does work
properly with page numbers and navigation so itmust be the particular book
not having the page info embedded which is a shame. I will have to try
reading it a different way on my computer instead I think.

Thanks for all the help with Voice Dream Reader, I’m making better use of
it now in any case.

Not all EPUB books have that information. They can be very very plain, or very

Re: Navigating by page/discovering page number in Voice Dream Reader?

2020-10-21 Thread 'Catherine Turner' via MacVisionaries
Hi Kerry, all,

H, what a puzzle. I updated to the latest version of Voice Dream
Reader just in case that was making a difference but still with this
epub book, no ability to move by page and no information about the
page I'm on. In the Navigation Units I have Bookmark, Highlight,
Heading, Paragraph, Sentence, 60 seconds, 30 seconds and 15 seconds
but no Page. And in the info about where I am, I just have a
percentage and what seem to be estimates of the amount of time already
read and that remaining.

I wonder if it's something about this particular book. Has anyone any
suggestions of sources of any epub books I could just try out to see
if they work better?

Also, has anyone any other suggestions as to how I could go about
reading an epub on the iphone, being able to copy/paste from the book
and realise which page I'm on for the sake of referencing in an
academic document? Perhaps I could try converting the epub to text
but I'm not sure whether that would retain the page numbering
information...

Thanks,
Catherine

It depends on the kind of document you’re reading. If the document is just a
text file, then there will be no page navigation option. Only if the document
is an E pub dock or some other format that has headings and page information
embedded in the file itself will there be navigation options for page etc.

Hi again,

I found page on the navigation unit lit right after paragraph, so not sure why
yours is being naughty.

As to discovering the page number, if you flick past the length of time
remaining in the document you’re currently reading, you will hear a bit about
which page you’r eon and how many pages there ar eint he document. Now this
does not mean that you will know which page of the book you’re on. What I mean
is that your document may have 25 physical pages, but the first 3 may be roman
numerals and page 4 is in actuality page 1 if you take my meaning.

Others may have better advice for you onthisone, but hope I’ve started some

Navigating by page/discovering page number in Voice Dream Reader?

2020-10-20 Thread 'Catherine Turner' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

In Voice Dream Reader, is it possible to navigate by page and/or find
out what page number I'm currently reading? I read somewhere that
navigation by page was possible but "page" isn't in the available list
of navigation units when I swipe up and down on the "navigation unit"
button. This is an epub file.

Thanks,
Catherine
