I don't know, but VMWare at least has an accessibility statement:

Re: Parallels desktop for Mac frustrations.

2023-11-17 Thread Ronald van Rhijn
Hi

I recently had my own difficulties with Parallels.
A few weeks ago I bought a brand new MacBook Pro 16 with M2 Pro, 32gb ram and
1tb ssd for using it with Parallels Pro 19 running Windows 11 and ArM Jaws 2023.
First of all Parallels isn’t very accessible with Voice Over (which I knew
before purchasing), but did it anyway. When all was installed and running I
shouldn’t have to worry about Parallels’ inaccessibility. Which was mostly
true. My problem with Parallels was certain keyboard keys like control and
option were giving me headaches. More than often when pressing one of these
(sometimes in combination with other keys) the focus switched to MacOS or no
focus at all. Where there wasn’t any speech either. This was true for windowd
and full screen.
We coulnd’t get this fixed in parallels settings unfortunately. For text
editing these keyboard keys are essential in Windows. Other issue was JAWS was
a tad sluggish. Perhaps the ARM version of Jaws is’nt optimal yet. The MacBook
should have been powerful enough to run everything smoothly.
I couldn’t live with it. So I returned the MacBook to Apple and got my full
money back from Parallels too.
Parallels webpage to ask for a refund I couldn’t do myself, cause the captcha
didn’t have an audio challenge.
I haven’t tried VM Fusion myself, but from what I read everywhere Parallels is
the best Apple Silicon virtual machine software. NOt for me though.
I am going to buy a much cheaper Mac and a Windows pc to use next to each
other.

Ronald

Parallels desktop for Mac frustrations.

2023-11-16 Thread Maurice A. Mines
Hello everyone, I'm writing because I'm extremely frustrated with many issues
in this software. The largest issue that I'm experiencing is the problem
software not recognizing any comports. I think this is a function of my arm
based Mac. I in a licensed radio amateur. That means I must use radio
programming software. This software according to the company that produces the
software should run in a virtual machine that of course is the Arm 64 version
of Windows. This appears to be true on the surface, meaning that the program,
and your programs will install. Unfortunately when it comes to actually
connecting the radios to the computer, because of parallels insistence that
there must be an inaccessible dialog box that demands that you okay the
communications port to be opened meaning it identifies the cable connected
properly but then refuses to actually allow USB data to pass.

My question to the group is if the time to go back to VMware? Will VMware run
better when it comes to dealing with USB cable communication?

Two a completely different frustration. It appears that I cannot do anything
without the ubiquitous search box from popping up. Not to mention when the
search box isn't popping up, Microsoft teams takes its place. The only
workaround that I found it seems to be effective for these two situations is to
turn voiceover, and interact with the OS X portion of the computer. Meaning
that I go back to doing things on my Mac, meaning going between Windows.
Navigating between Windows that are open using voiceover. This approach works
about 90% of the time. The other approach is that if there are too many
applications open, and my MacBook Pro begins to freeze, I can go over to the
force quit applet, and pick the application that is causing all the trouble and
forcibly stop it from running.

The final frustration occurs when I even attempt to which out to the company
for technical support. While I have no problem with "signing in" it would be
nice if my only option were not to have a chat and then t. Just simply because
most of the time those chat clients are not accessible when one uses either
voiceover, or jaws

So far, it appears that the only positive take away is the fact that I can use
dictation software without too many problems.

I am curious to know what people on the list thank you? Just for the record, I
have the professional addition of parallels desktop for Mac. I am currently
running Mac OS Sonoma 14.1.1 on aM2 Mac.

Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom regarding everything I've dictated about?
That brings me to the end of this, if there's something that has been written
about that dictation software did not catch, please ask me what did I really
intend to say. I will be happy to clear up any unintended errors that the
dictation software they have created.

Sincerely Maurice mines.
