It’s command-option-N. I find it won’t always place focus in the message when
you do that, so you might need to tab a few times.

Re: Question about outlook

2024-01-21 Thread Julie Rattray
Hi,

Yes I use outlook as well - because I work at a university and we use office
365 - when we switched to this there was something about it not being an
exchange account anymore so Mac mail didn’t work - but can’t remember why - it
might be something to do with authentication - and it might work again now I
switched a while ago.

One thing I would say is that with outlook you have two choices a webmail
client or a desktop version - I find the desktop version much easier to use -
but it does have a few limitations but these relate to things like creating
groups - and this could also be linked to the settings enabled by the employer.

So this was a bit of a ramble but really just want to echo that it does work
and actually fairly well.

Re: Question about outlook

2024-01-19 Thread roni mathew
I agree as well; Outlook is so well integrated, and much easier to scroll through built-in lists and menus. Not to mention, the intouface is generally more snappy, since one is not dealing with the web constantly loading, and  navigating around to locate specific edit boxes or buttons is not a concern in outlook. The one drawback is that accessing mail anywhere else but one’s own computer will be a much harder learning curve, if all that is used is outlook. I will regularly force myself to use gmail on the web in standard view, knowing of course, is less efficient than outlook, Apple mail or even basic html gmai  Roni Mathew Jan 19, 2024, at 5:00 PM, Brandon Olivares wrote:

Outlook works extremely well on the Mac. I’m using it now to reply to this.

To start a new email, press cmd+option+n. To send the message, press cmd+enter.
To reply, it’s just cmd+R like in Mail. It’s all very simple.

Re: Question about outlook

2024-01-19 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

I’ve worked at universities for most of my professional life. Like Suzanne,
I’ve had no trouble getting exchange mail to work in Mac Mail. I believe that
if you go into Internet Accounts, select Add Account, select Exchange as your
account type, and then enter your email address, the rest of the fields—except
those you configure such as your name—will auto-populate. It’s been a while
since I’ve set mine up, so I may be missing a step, but if I am, I’m sure your
IT Helpdesk can give you the information you need. Lots of academics use Macs,
So I assure you, you will not be the only one using Mac Mail instead of Outlook.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Question about outlook

2024-01-19 Thread Suzanne Erb
Hello,
At my most recent job, I was encouraged to use Outlook, but I didn’t. I was
able to just set up my employer’s account in Mail. No one ever knew that I did
not use Outlook.
I was surprised at how easy it was to set up. I believe it was
considered an "Exchange account'. Unfortunately, I don’t remember exactly how I
did it, but it was certainly doable. All of my mail showed up in my"All
Inboxes” section with no problem.
Perhaps someone else on the list can give you further instructions, but
I can definitely say that I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked.
Also, I was able to use Pages and TextEdit for word processing. I was
able to save documents as Word documents with no problem. Granted, I didn’t
have to use crazy formatting, but I never had any issues
Hope everything works out well for you.
