Hey Chris. I've noticed this glitch when I have Samantha as my default voice
for Voice Over. If you don't want to switch to Alex, I find that when you
press control twice as Voice Over is speaking, Adium behaves as it should.
But if you don't want this problem, I'd suggest you use Alex until this
glitch is cleared up. HTH.

Re: Adium! Will, you? shut? up?!

2011-07-24 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
You know, it's strange, because in Skype, I have it set to tell me when
people sign in and out, and it never spits things out all at once.

Now, YoruFukurou on the other hand? It always speaks tweets even when
hidden down in my dock, and yes, under the prefs notifications, I have it
said to not use growl, so I'm totally perplexed on that, but that I can
definitely! tell you isn't a Lion issue, as it did the same thing in SL.

I have seen this but haven't found a workaround. I'm thinking to myself i
wonder what would happen if i switched the adium voice for the events to one
of the nuance voices, would that help things? Does the problem lye within
Adium or Lion? Is it the same issue with say Skype, that also can announce
messages, events and the like?

Has anyone noticed, that in the most recent build of Adium, I think I am
on the latest beta build, don't quote me, that in Lion, if you have events
set to speak, as I do, and you have it set to speak your contacts
connecting and disconnecting, if you're away from the system for a period
of time, when you come back, Adium will spit out all the events that
occured while you were gone, including people connecting/disconnecting all
in one go? It won't run them all together, thank god, but look, if you
had 30 or 40 things happen while you were gone, you're gonna then have to
wait for those 30/40 things to get done speaking, and forget trying to
shut it up with the control key.

I thought perhaps this was just a glitch, and so didn't write in earlier
about it, but it's seeming to persist.

Has anyone else seen this, and found a work around, aside the obvious of
quit Adium when I go away, which I really! don't wanna do?
