Hi,

For the most part, from the iPad Mini 2 and up, the iPad Air, the iPad Pro etc, 
Swift Playground is usable, it's the regular "iPad" models, those without any 
special designation that have the limitations.

The mini 4 and air 2 I believe the swift playground came out on, but in I think 
it was in IOS 9 on those devices,

I don't know the minimum iOS requirement, but I imagine that would be the only 
limitation. So long as your iOS version is new enough, you should be fine. I 
think. The worst that can happen if you try it on his iPad is that it won't 
install, so it's certainly worth trying. It's free, too, so there's no money 
lost if it won't work for some reason.
