Re: scheduling an Uber ride?

2017-08-04 Thread Scott Granados
That’s not a bad idea. I’ve got the perfect car for it too. I commute about
an hour in each direction maybe more with traffic so it would be nice to make
money on the way and during the day. I could just see some drunk or
inconsiderate passenger messing up my car though and then it would be war.:)

Good idea though. I’m going to look in to it.

Re: scheduling an Uber ride?

2017-08-04 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Scott,

You should have your assistant sign up as an Uber driver. Then they could
make money off your car while you are in meetings.

It would also be interesting to hear you rant about how bad uber customers
are.

In Northern Virginia they just started Uber carpool unfortunately this part
of the app is not accessible. It is better than in April when I could not
even get past the screen asking if you were a driver or a passenger. The
carpool options are supposed to set up two people to commute together for
inconvenience of less than 10 minutes. I keep thinking that perhaps I
should use ride sharing more often since it would save me about an hour
each direction in my commute.

Depends, on how large and how much time you want but roughly 600 to 1500 US per
hour assuming your paying a pilot and chartering, if you own it’s less per hour
but the million plus for the bird up front is a limiting factor.:)

Sarai,

I just used this last week and it worked like a charm. Near the bottom of the
screen, somewhere above the Home button, is a button that says “schedule a ride
in advance.” If you don’t locate it then swipe either right or left until you
hear it say just that and then double tap the button.

On the following screen, you can change the date of the ride if it isn’t the
current date. Then go down a bit and there are picker buttons to select
hour/minutes and either AM/PM. Once you have the date of your ride then move
your finger near the bottom of the screen, probably just above the Home button
again and double tap to “set the date.”

On the following screen you will set your pick up location and destination.

Once you get the address set the next screen for type of Uber ride you want
will come up automatically. If your good with the uber-x economy then again,
just above the home button is a “schedule ride” button. Double tap it and your
ride will be set.

If at any time you need to cancel the ride you can double check it under the
“upcoming rides” area.

Once your wait time starts I don’t think it will notify you until your ride is
at the location.

I do wish they would make communicating with the driver easier or at least more
apparent on the screens.

Good luck.

It might seem convenient, but I would not get that excited about being
able to schedule rides.

When you schedule a ride, my understanding is that the system just
puts your ride request in to the real time queue at some point when it
seems like that would be the best time to leave.

It is not like if you schedule a ride on Monday morning at 6:00am to
go to the airport, that you have a driver that knows they are
scheduled to do that on Sunday night. The system is just going to put
your request in the real time queue say at 5:45AM, and then you'll get
the next available car.

You could be subject to surge pricing or even a situation where there
are no cars available, although this is no more likely to happen then
when requesting a ride in real time.

I just think the scheduling feature gives users a false sense of
security and a belief that your ride is somehow guaranteed or assigned
to a driver when I think in reality it is just automating entering
your ride request in to the real time queue.

I feel like by using the real time queue I have more control and a
feel for what is going on such as etas for cars and the amount of
surge pricing.

But for those of you that love the scheduling feature, what am I missing? :)

Best,
Mika

I used the schedule in advance feature last week and the screens clearly state
that it is not a garuntee of getting a car. If the time window rolls around and
you don’t have a car I suppose the ride can be cancelled out and then you’'
have the option of doing real-time or trying to get another car service. . If
you think you’ll be in a place with a lot of noise or feeling under pressure it

Again, once you hear the tipping button, swipe with one finger either to the
right or left until you hear it say, “schedule in advance.” If you swipe in one

Have you kept the app updated? Perhaps you might want to check in the app store

Good luck.

Okay,

Seriously! I go to the Dr. Open Uber and see schedule a ride. For some reason
it is available 20mi from my house but not at my house.

Lol because a drone can’t carry my heavy back side from place to place.

The drone industry though is killing the helicopter business. No more need for
expensive flights for arial photography and surveying etc.

I’m going to try it through uber next time the option is available.

If at any time you need to cancel the ride you can double check it under the
“upcoming rides” area.

Once your wait time starts I don’t think it will notify you until your ride is
at the location.

I do wish they would make communicating with the driver easier or at least more
apparent on the screens.

Good luck.

I used to use helicopters to get around south Florida but that’s because we had
several aviation companies as customers. Have been thinking about it for my
commute from where I live in the woods to Boston everyday though.

Actually, there's two ways of doing it. In the screening, where you can say
where too, there is a another button that says schedule in advance. This will
take you to where you could also schedule a ride in advance. so we have the
schedule and advanced ride button on the home screen, and then you also have it
in the where to area. I hope this helps.

Re: scheduling an Uber ride?

2017-08-01 Thread Sarai Bucciarelli
Still no luck. The only thing I see is a tipping button. I have looked
everywhere and I cannot find it. I was told we do have it. I even logged off
and back on to the app. Also, how do you delete places were you've been? My
feed is getting clogged up places that I've traveled that I do not want to save
his favorites.

Yep, this is fairly easy to set up. Keep in mind that it’s a 15 minute span
rather than an exact time. I believe you also get a notification just before
the 15 minutes starts and then another when you have a driver.

I’ve only done this once with Uber and haven’t tried it on Lyft yet though we
do have it here, and it worked well.

Re: scheduling an Uber ride?

2017-08-01 Thread Eileen Scrivani

Good luck.

Eileen
