They do have a protector but you don’t need it. It’s an entirely sealed unit
with a protector built in like the otter box but much more sealed and much more
streamlined.

Is it easy to take the LifeProof case on and off? Ideally I'd like to have a
case for times when the phone might be at risk, travel, nights when maybe too
much alcohol might be consumed, etc., and then be able to take it off the rest
of the time.

I'm hoping to keep this phone--a 6S--until the 7S comes out, so have been

The fit is not all that girth, not like a life proof or similar.

You’ve got to take it a part and clean a lot more than you’d expect with

once they went to the 6 cases which were thinner, it made it really
really difficult. Don't be afraid that you're gonna break it, as it's
not giving way. It'll come, I promise ya, but you're really gonna have
to pull, and, buddy? I, mean, pull! Hard!

I don't know which one it is, I didn't pay that close of attention. I
can tell you that I'm able to get it loose by pulling back the top right
corner, but the case does not seem to want to let go of the phone!

Hi all,

As the subject says, I just got an OtterBox case for my phone. I'm
glad for the extra protection, but not liking the added bulk. Just
wondering if any of you who have this case put it on and take it off as
needed? If yes, what's the best way to take it off? (I'm talking
about the back, not the tempered glass screen protector.)

TIA,
Donna

There are not air tight by any stretch of the imagination and dirt gets under
the screens very easily. They also provide no protection against water.

The fit is not all that girth, not like a life proof or similar.

You’ve got to take it a part and clean a lot more than you’d expect with the
otter box.

2016-03-19 Thread Scott Granados
Well, that’s actually an interesting question even though it was meant tongue
and cheek. Part of my time studying in college was interning on a SONAR
project with the Navy. Set content, temperature, the fact it’s water, all have
a big impact on the sound. Things are less bass heavy because of the way waves
propagate. Listen to some under water recordings of whales to get an idea.

2016-03-19 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
Wow, I never had that with the clip, but then again, I hardly ever wear mine
in the clip as for me, I'm a bit chubby around the beltline, so when I go to
sit down, the clip squeezes into my side/lovehandle area, which is really
uncomfortable.

I’ve noticed that too; in my oppinion, for the money you put into them, they’re
really poorly made. I love their ruggedness, but can’t stand the fact that
you can’t use the clip they come with without it tearing the casing to
shreds.
I’ve had 3 of them, and it either chipped the metal part of the casing, or
shredded the rubber around the outside, or both. When it came to the first
one I got, repeated use of the clip ground the metal on one side to the
point that when I put it into the clip one afternoon, I heard this sound
like sand moving around under someone’s shoes, so I took it out, and and
part of the side of it looked like someone who’d had a cavity, or something
weird like that.

The more you take it on and off, the looser the rubber portion of the case

amount of money those cases cost, they should be better designed. Correct
me if I'm wrong, but you're talking about the defender series, right? If
not, I stand corrected.

Hi all,

As the subject says, I just got an OtterBox case for my phone. I'm
glad for the extra protection, but not liking the added bulk. Just
wondering if any of you who have this case put it on and take it off as
needed? If yes, what's the best way to take it off? (I'm talking

Last I looked, I remember them being around $79USD.

Join the club, those phones are super expensive lol. If I remember
correctly, the life proof cases are too.

Aren’t they about $100 or something along those lines?

I doubt I'll ever use the clip. Honestly, I'm not even sure I'm going to
continue to use the case - the added bulk is really bugging me.

Lol, reminds me of a cartoon Hannah loves to watch where one of the characters
actually did drop his phone off the boat into the water, and everything was
really garbled sounding, because you could still hear the voices, but it was
bubbly-sounding at the same time, and this was after he was told not to drop
his phone in the water.

It snaps together very snuggly. Honestly it’s more of an install and leave

So could someone tell me what kind of Life proof case I’d need for a six S
plus? I’m always afraid when it rains that I might not be able to keep my
phone dry as I put it in my kipling bag but so far it’s been OK. My phone is
in one of those Apple cases. However, I might get the next I phone as someone
really wants my 6 S plus but I’m still thinking about it because of the
headphone jack being faced out and it depends what other types of hardware is
put on that new phone before I spend my money.

2016-03-19 Thread Scott Granados
Chris, I’ll do you one better than that. I’m comfortable with a life proof
case to take the phone diving full on in the ocean let alone a tub or shower.
My cousin uses them for filming under water and they work well even at 300 feet
down / greater than 100 meters.
I’ve also used one on an iPad in the boat for several years now with no
issue and it also took a hit falling when we got hit by a wave off the console
on to the deck and the screen survived unbroken.

Thanks

Re: Just got an OtterBox case for my iPhone

2016-03-19 Thread Scott Granados
Dona, also remember the 6S is a very solid phone. Apple put a lot of effort in
to hardening the glass and the case. With my 6 I went with an open faced case
which wasn’t half bad. Even with the screen exposed I had no problem when it
came time to sell the phone and upgrade. Life proof is good stuff though, I
think you’ll like it as long as you consider the speaker limitations which
aren’t deal breaker bad but something to know ahead of time.

2016-03-19 Thread Scott Granados
Chris, I think you’re about right. Depends on the device as well, easily $100
for the iPad and easily worth the money. Like I said I’ve seen a life proof
save a brand new iPad when it flew through the air and crashed on my carbon
fiber deck which should have smashed the glass.

The belt clip is also sold separately for approximately $30. Expensive but to
my mind worth the money.

I’ve noticed that too; in my oppinion, for the money you put into them, they’re
really poorly made. I love their ruggedness, but can’t stand the fact that you
can’t use the clip they come with without it tearing the casing to shreds.
I’ve had 3 of them, and it either chipped the metal part of the casing, or
shredded the rubber around the outside, or both. When it came to the first one
I got, repeated use of the clip ground the metal on one side to the point that
when I put it into the clip one afternoon, I heard this sound like sand moving
around under someone’s shoes, so I took it out, and and part of the side of it
looked like someone who’d had a cavity, or something weird like that.

Re: Just got an OtterBox case for my iPhone

2016-03-19 Thread Scott Granados
Dona, you pull back the rubber from the outside. I find it easier to start to
pry the rubber free by opening the ports and using them to gently remove the
rubber from the frame.

Then once the rubber is removed you feel clips on each side and the bottom.
Use a finger nail or something and pull each clip free and the top slides out.

Chris, I think you’re about right. Depends on the device as well, easily
$100 for the iPad and easily worth the money. Like I said I’ve seen a life
proof save a brand new iPad when it flew through the air and crashed on my
carbon fiber deck which should have smashed the glass.

The belt clip is also sold separately for approximately $30. Expensive but
to my mind worth the money.

Join the club, those phones are super expensive lol. If I remember
correctly, the life proof cases are too.

Aren’t they about $100 or something along those lines?

The only down side of the life proof so you know ahead of time is the speaker
tends to be covered because it’s such a water tight seal. So it doesn’t have
the boom that the otter box does. If you’re a headphone / bluetooth user like
me though this makes no difference but if you’re an internal speaker person
consider it ahead of time.

They’re a pain in the neck. I’ve had several people tell me you need to
take them off on occasion to clean the screen itself, which I never
understood, until I somehow found a bump of some sort under the plastic,
which I can only assume is a piece of dirt, sense it doesn’t seem to
move much, and the case has been on there a good year or so.

Hi all,

Do they give you any more sound than the full case?

It snaps together very snuggly. Honestly it’s more of an install and leave
alone sort of thing. I wouldn’t want to remove it and install it repeatedly.

Then, you don't have a defender, as the defender has the ports, and the mute

Thanks Scott. Interesting. The Case I have, the ports are already open.
They're inset, but there's nothing to open.

Cheers,

Dona, you pull back the rubber from the outside. I find it easier to

Then once the rubber is removed you feel clips on each side and the
bottom. Use a finger nail or something and pull each clip free and the
top slides out.

I personally don't mind the extra bulk, and actually find it makes my

Also, you say you got an Otterbox. Which one though, as that will
determine how you get it off. Are you using the Defender?

Oh you can definitely use it, you don’t lose the feature it’s just not as bass
heavy or loud because it’s totally wrapped. They do tricks like cutting holes
almost all the way through so you have less material obstructing the sound but
still a barrier but you don’t get the free flowing air sound you do with the
phone not in a case at all or a bigger box like an otter box. It’s totally
usable though.

Same with the microphone.

Hi. You don't really want to take it off, unless you absolutely have to. The
more you take it on and off, the looser the rubber portion of the case becomes,
which in my opinion is the worst part about that case. For the amount of money
those cases cost, they should be better designed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but
you're talking about the defender series, right? If not, I stand corrected.

They're pretty much airtight, but yes. You do want to, maybe once or twice
a yewar pop the case off, and rence it off. Notice: I said rence off the

They’re a pain in the neck. I’ve had several people tell me you need to
take them off on occasion to clean the screen itself, which I never
understood, until I somehow found a bump of some sort under the plastic,
which I can only assume is a piece of dirt, sense it doesn’t seem to move
much, and the case has been on there a good year or so.
