Re: Receipt Requests in Mail
Take a look at the full headers for one of the messages that requested a return receipt. There should be a header something like "return-reciept-requested:somewh...@watchmyeverymove.com" So, you should be able to use this for your rules. I don't know if you will be able to extract the address from that field using just rules, but you could set up a applescript to do this and then link tha tto your rules. Re: Receipt Requests in Mail
This is a great idea. No, the computers in the office are not connected to an Exchange server, so writing a special rule that would only apply to certain individuals' e-mail addresses would have to be the approach, I guess. They wouldn't know when I actually read their note, but they would at least know that I received it and this might give them the assurance they need ... Best regards and thanks, Mike P.S. This is very helpful, and I thank you for the list. While I will have a look at it, I'm frustrated that it is yet another program to master when the one I am already using meets all of my personal needs. Oh well, at least there are options. I may try the Eudora client first since I used it in an earlier life. Again, thanks. Not to turn this into an endless discussion, but I really am curious if people really respond to all of these return receipts or is it something that happens and they have to take no action. I never respond to these because in nearly every case I have to respond to the message, so it would be like replying twice. It would seem that if there was sufficient demand, APple would have implemented this facility into Mail, but apparently its use is not significant. Re: Receipt Requests in Mail
Normally, receipt requests aren't important to me, but they are to the organization for which I work. I'm afraid that if I don't find something, I'll have to do all my mail under Windows which, in my case, is very doable but not desirable. I guess I will need to look for new e-mail clients under Mac OS that work with VO and have the receipt request feature.
