Thanks for that clarification about the Mac app. I am starting my 30 day

think they don't have enough genres. And they don't subdivide the genres.
Other services do a better job with that. But the sound quality is
unmatched in my experience with other services as well. I will have to
figure out how to find my preferred sub genres, since you can't do it by
searching. Search, for instance, on smooth jazz, and you will not find a
 genre.

 Hi all,
I wonder if anyone here has experience with a TIDAL music service.
Specifically of course, the first question would be about
accessibility and ease-of-use of the app. I'm kind of interested in
the higher fidelity audio that is offered, although I don't know the
extent of the catalog. I'm mostly a classical music and jazz listener.
Of course, I have iTunes match and a large Apple Music library. But
the notion of lossless is intriguing, especially as I have a pair of
headphones with digital to analog converter that I think would take
good advantage of this lossless service. So I'm wondering if folks
have had good or bad experiences.

2016-12-15 Thread Scott Granados
I almost went in to recording engineering as a line of work. I love music but
physics grabbed me just a little bit more and then the Internet thing diverted
me and here I am.

In my play lists I have everything from E40 to Snoop Dogg to the Grateful Dead
to Johny Cash to Andre Watts to Emergency Broadcast Network and everything else
in between. The only thing I’m not really in to is modern country but I dig
the staples like Johny Cash and Willy. I’m also with Mary here and like
classical especially classical piano. One of the things that upsets me is the
way Andre Watts who is a great pianist sounds compressed. These lossless music
services might be the answer to my objections. I’ve been blessed to see so
many of these various performers live or even in studio sessions that hearing
it compressed just kills me and takes the life out of it.

Another app, Sonos support Tidal. Sonos app for IOS may work for getting
jazzradio.com within the Sonos app somehow. Both Tidal and jazzradio.com within
Sonos? Maybe. Don’t have Sonos, but it support CD quality hifi Tidal. For Sonos
app to work, a Sonos connect or Sonos speaker is needed. Thats all i know.

2016-12-15 Thread Terje Strømberg
You are right about sub genre and genres. The important thing for me is that
they have a large library for jazz for example. You find a new artist elsewhere
i.e. in apple music, radium and forums. Then you make your own library and
playlists. As you also pointed.

A very good place for jazz is:Radium with a subscription on jazzradio.com is a
good choice for jazz listening with voice over in use with radium. Nice warm
sound.Also good for background music.

Thanks for that clarification about the Mac app. I am starting my 30 day trial
and I am very impressed with the sound on the hi-fi program. I think they
don't have enough genres. And they don't subdivide the genres. Other services
do a better job with that. But the sound quality is unmatched in my experience
with other services as well. I will have to figure out how to find my preferred
sub genres, since you can't do it by searching. Search, for instance, on smooth
jazz, and you will not find a genre.

Yes. It is a mac app. The good news is that Tidal works very good on IOS.
Audirvana also have an remote app for about $10 that seems to work fine, but
the mac app needs to be running on mac with wi-fi enabled. Since Tidal works
with voice over on IOS, you are good to go right now. Very good library for
jazz. i am a newbee in the classical area. I bought some classic fm cd’s from
amazon with pretty average sound quality, but i could find the most of theese
titles in the Tidal app.

Re: Tidal music service

2016-12-14 Thread Terje Strømberg
I use an app called Audirvana Plus 2. The price for this app is about $100, but
is worth it. Open up for Tidal in Audirvana preferences. Read user guide to be
more familiar is a good advice. Although it is very easy to use with voice
over. To hit play on a song title with keyboard i needed to make a «one left
mouse click» command on the numeric keyboard. Vo + j to move around and the
first letter in the sidepanel table. The drawback, not good thing, is that
Audirvana do not read artist names in album table. Only in song title tables in
the albbum. It is possible to search for album titles with vo - i i.e. the
object chooser.

The Tidal web browser was pretty good accessible before with the object chooser
vo - i. Don’t now how it is theeese days.

Take care
