Re: Stopping Display Sharing to Apple TV

2019-08-23 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

When you say that you turn off AirPlay, what exactly are you doing? If you are
going into System Prefs, then turning it off via the pop-up menu, then that's
fine. Technically, you're not really using AirPlay anyway since you've
physically connected the HDMI dongle to the Mini and your TV. That is simply
using the TV as the connected monitor instead of a computer style monitor.
Real AirPlay does it wirelessly to an Apple TV or other Airplay enabled device.

Simon,

No, Home Sharing doesn't work between different locations. But, if the video
media has been purchased through iTunes, then it is accessible to anyone using
that same Apple ID no matter where they are. Similarly, with Apple Music or
iTunes Match, where music media is stored in the Cloud, that too is accessible
to any other ATV using the same Apple ID. So, in my case, my father lives
about 16 hours away in British Columbia and has access to my library.

Home sharing only works on devices connected to the same network, not the

Re: Sharing on Apple TV

2016-07-10 Thread E.T.

An interesting idea but not quite what I was looking for.

While I watched something on my ATV tonight, I loaded Ted and
watched a talk. Then I looked for an option to share the talk. Must not
be possible on the ATV. So signed into Ted on the computer and found the
share and sent an email.

Just a guess but this probably is how other online content can be
shared. Time will tell.

Sharing on Apple TV

2016-07-10 Thread E.T.
Is it possible to share some of the content one plays on the ATV?
What I mean by this is content that is viewed on an app such as Ted
which has a share function. A friend and I are curious about this as we
both watch documentaries. This would not be content one has to subscribe to.

home sharing and apple TV

2010-12-27 Thread Chris G
Hello,
I have a question about home sharing and the apple TV.
The apple TV sees my libraries on my mac and windows pc, only if iTunes
is open. How can I get it to work when iTunes is not open?
Thanks
Chris
