Well, first of all, you need to make sure that skype is sett to not
log yoou in when you log into mac os ten.
Then, you need to redownload the dmg file.

Re: Skype problems Re: sorry gang, still stuck on the DMG problem

2009-08-24 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn

OK, a bit more research and things are straight.

I am running the same version. I installed it as an admin user, but
only ran it in my own account. Once I ran it once in the admin account
the message indicating that this software was downloaded from the
internet went away.

There are also accessable issues with the initial login screen, all
fields are accessible via tabs, but the normal VO cursor movements
don't work.
So: after installing.
  1. start the program as an admin user say OK to the question about
running an internet downloaded application.
  2. accept the user agreement.
  3. Login screen appears. Hit tab until you reach the user name combo
box and enter your skype login name.
  4. Hit tab until you hit the password field and enter your skype
password.
  5. Hit tab until you find save password and enable the check box.
  6. click OK.
  7. Accept the request to use the keychain. (Skype uses your system
keychain to save the password)
  8. Profile window comes up and fill in as you feel appropriate. (VO
works great here)
  9. Go to contacts menu and make sure you are viewing contact
groups (the menu will say hide contact groups if you have it right).
10. Go back into contact menu and find the contact group submenu there
is a presets sub-sub-menu where I recommend you click at least "Online
contacts" These are checkboxes.

Best of skyping,

Re: Skype problems Re: sorry gang, still stuck on the DMG problem

2009-08-24 Thread Donna Goodin

Hi John,

I'm not sure why, but I am no longer getting that error. It seemed to
stop after I followed Soren's instructions on deleting it from the
startup list. I have no idea if the two were really connected, but
you might want to check it out.
Good luck,
Donna

Hi,

Click OK in that message and you will see it no more. You will always
get this warning the first time you launch an app downloaded from the
internet, this is for security reasons.

HOpe this helps,

Skype problems Re: sorry gang, still stuck on the DMG problem

2009-08-24 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn

Donna,

I am getting that warning every-time I launch the new skype too. I
have tried clearing a few things in my Library folder, but the
message indicating that Skype is a newly downloaded program continues
to appear. I will try a full install after deleting all tell tales
from my old Skype later today.

Does anybody else run the new Skype and have you encountered similar
problems?
