Hi!
You can use sudo to get administration privileges so you have to the
systempassword after that.

I have sudo working on my Sonoma system without ever having used the
Directory Utility.

I think that the problem is that, by default, the root user is disabled. On
older versions, Apple says you can go into the Directory utility, and from
there once you type in your local password you can do Edit > Enable root
user, and you're fine. Under Sonoma, the Directory Utility doesn't seem to
have this option.

Can you just run the sudo command and give your password when prompted?

Using P M Set To Schedule Automatic Shutdown Mac OS Sonoma

2024-05-05 Thread pdevasto0219
Hello all,

My sighted wife just got a new M3 iMac running Sonoma, and I want to help
her configure it to shut down at a certain time each day like her earlier
computer did. I have hers and my older Macs running versions earlier than
Sonoma, and could enable Root using the Directory utility so I could
accomplish this. Under Sonoma, however, the Directory utility no longer
appears to have the option to do this, even after clicking the lock to
prevent changes. I may be missing something, but if anyone has been able to
use P M Set under Sonoma, I'd love some help.

Thanks muchly,

Pete De Vasto
