Not that DisplayPort isn't just an Apple thing. The industry is 
generally moving away from DVI and HDMI to display port so Apple is just 
ahead of the curve (as usual).

Its Apple's own mini display port connector. So, to go to a TV, you need their 
DVI adaptor, then you need to get an HDMI to DVI cable.
