Are there any CPU options you could change, for example by allowing the
VM to use all of the cores? I suspect this wouldn't work, but it would
be worth trying any relevant configuration options. Otherwise, it's a
VMWare bug report.

I'm so glad I've left the Windows world - at least for now.

Windows Insider and VMWare Fusion

2024-02-24 Thread Kelly Ford
Hi,

There is always that next wrinkle with this sort of stuff I suppose. As I think
everyone knows, until recently VMWare fFusion wasn’t working right on silicon
Macs and VMs would shut down immediately.

The most recent updates, at least for betas, of the Mac OS resolved that issue
so now I can install and run a Windows 11 VM using VMWare Fusion.

The initial VM downloads an ISO for ARM from Microsoft and works.

Now though, when I try and join the Windows Insider program on the machine I’m
told the PC doesn’t meet the hardware requirements. The failing item is the
processor.

Interestingly, with Parallels, which starts with the equivalent ISO, I’ve had
no trouble creating the VM and also joining the Insider program.

The processor itself between the two VMs ends up showing differently inside of
Windows. They are configured the same in the two VMs in terms of what resources
the VMs are using.

Has anyone else hit this and found a solution?
