I agree, it's annoying.  When I get stuck reading incoming messages, I 
turn curser tracking off with VO shift F3.  This makes it possible for me to 
move back and forth through the messages.  I just have to remember to toggle 
curser tracking back on with the same command.

adium and stuck in messages list

Hello,

I have been using ADium for msn for a while now and I like it, were it
not for one thing.
The very very annoying bug where you get ' stuck'  when you interact
with the ' unknown'  element holding the messages history. I vo
through the messages and suddenly i get walled off. Can't go backwards
and can't go forward very far either and i have to stop interacting
and re-interact to get around.
Even then, it sometimes keeps happening at the exact same place,
forcing me to do  a cmd-a cmd-c and cmd-v into textedit to actually
read what was said.
Is there truly no easier solution than having to do that all the time?
