Re: curious observation re Cut command

Hey DG,

Can you bit a bit more specific about what you are doing when you try
to Cut information and does Copy work? For instance, what application
and portion thereof causes this behavior?

Hey Chris,

I'm assuming my subsequent exchanges on the list answered this? I think John
explained it. If not, let me know. And thanks for the offer of help.
Cheers,
Donna

curious observation re Cut command

Hello all,

I have noticed something that seems odd about the Cut command. It
seems never to function. It doesn't matter whether I use Command-X or
whether I go into the menus. If I go into the menu, that option
simply shows as dimmed, even though I have an item selected.
Likewise, if I press Command-X, nothing happens. Can anyone explain

Can you give some more details? What application were you in, what did
you select and how did you select it?

Re: curious observation re Cut command

2009-08-24 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn

The cut command is not available in read-only boxes and lists. The
copy command should be available in this case. Also, I don't think
cut is available in file browser, because generally a cut item is only
in the paste-board once cut, and if you cut something else that file
would be lost. I wonder if any of the multi-cut buffer applications
would enable cutting in the finder? I have never tried any of these
add-ons.

Re: curious observation re Cut command

2009-08-24 Thread Donna Goodin

The one common thread I can find is that I was working with files,
rather than selecting text. So, I was selecting them by moving
through the file table. Whenever I went into the menu, I was always
able to copy the file, and the file I wanted always showed up as being
selected. For any more specifics, I'm going to have to think about
it, but let me know if there's more info that would be helpful.
Best,
Donna
