Time will tell whether the earpods are better than the old IPhone earphones. After a few months of use, the old earphones lose volume and frequency response. Have any of you found a remedy to this? Re: hint: Apple Earpods work on macs, too
Hi, I don't even need time. lol. They are definitely better. They have a little nozzle that directs sound directly into your ear canal. This way, less sound is bled out the back like the old model. It just sounds better. But, they are what they are. run of the mill headphones. I don't find them terribly comfortable for long use. Not as bad as the old headphones though. You get a little more bass response and more mids with the earPods. I still won't use them though. They will do in a pinch but, I'll keep on with my Shure 215 IEMs. JMO. Re: hint: Apple Earpods work on macs, too
Hi Cheryl My old apple ear buds work find with my mac book pro 2011. Even the microphone. The volume works for both vo and audio. Try playing around in system preferences/sounds. When I plug the Apple ear buds in the devices table shows that automatically and it seems to be the only one available then. You have to push them in quite hard or they won't work. Good luck. Maybe someone else can help more. On my late 2011 MacBook Pro, it doesn't appear that the volume and play/pause work but I only tried them with my computer talking and not with an audio file playing. I don't think the microphone or remote control works with the macbook pros though the earphones themselves do of course work. The microphone and remote control also do not work with the older mac minis, for instance my mid-2007 model. -- Cheryl May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. The new Apple Earpods, and presumably the older headphones with remote and microphone as well, work with the mac, not just iOS. In fact, though I did type the first part of this message I am now dictating using the microphone built into the earpods.
