You sort of have to choose the lesser of two evils. Either you don't 
share an account so each person has to purchase each thing again, or you 
do share an account which means you get everything the other person 
purchased and vice versa. For me the latter was better. I have to 
sometimes remove stuff that my wife purchased and I don't want on my 
phone but more often we want the same apps on both phones.

I've never seen this except where you are trying to change your iTunes Match 
account. I sign in and out of my UK, US and New Zealand accounts all the time 
with no incident using the Store Menu in iTunes on the Mac.
