My own problem is with the installation of the /home directory onto a

that and let me access the screen captures I made. What am I missing here?

I configured the CD to use UnionFS as a default. On this Kanotix version
UnionFS and the script for making a persistent home directory don't work
together. You have to manually save changes made to UnionFS.

It seems that many people expect full Knoppix functionality, but it will
take some more weeks until this is incorporated.

Plucker runs but I can't seem to open any books.

Also, I thought I saw mention that the knoppix-installer should work
with this CD? I gave it a go, but the install hangs after some errors
trying to copy stuff in scratchbox/users/knoppix/proc

Stopping scratchbox-core before running kanotix-installer
should do the trick. I will modify the installer accordingly.

Mattias

[maemo-developers] Audio-in onboard?

2005-07-04 Thread Timo Steuerwald

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this were already asked, but are there plans that the
device will also have a common audio-in connector?

Cheers,

It's been answered, although with a confusing message subject, here:

http://maemo.org/pipermail/maemo-developers/2005-June/000247.html

Short summary: No, if you care about your warranty. =)

Re: [maemo-developers] external usb devices really necessary?

Hello,

I’m new here. I think it’s possible to connect a external usb-hdd to a
770. It would be very useful for playing mp3s and watching videos.

You could use a webcam or a keyboard. With a little web server you
could host a website with live pictures from your webcam.

This might be totally of topic, but great device to connect harddisks
and other USB stuff to is the NSLU2 from linksys. It runs Linux 2.4 and
has two USB host ports that are primarily intended for connecting
harddisks. I use one of thes boxes as a uPnP-Server for my Noxon. Since
the NSLU2 has a samba server on board you might want to access your MP3s
from the N770 (I guess the smb-client for gnomevfs is either on board or
added easily), so you will be able to listen to your music and watch
videos without lots of cables (and hardware hacked USB hubs).

I assume with a N770, my Wireless DSL router and the NSLU2 there is no
more reason to run one PC all the time.

Mattias

[maemo-developers] Qt + KDE port

2005-07-04 Thread Gustavo Barbieri
Hello,

Has anyone started a KDE port or is interested in one?

Main reasons is that many KDE applications already have tweaks to fit
small devices, since they run in some QTopia/Opie environments.

Also, KHTML + KPIM + KOffice would be a great offer for those that
want productivity + conectivity. KPIM is specially meant to work well
on disconnected system with it's new kitchensync arch.

On a side note, what's the expected price and release date for the
nokia product? Ansious to have my hands on one of these!
