After all, it makes sense to me that extra repository is the best place for aptitude: classic users does not use Terminal to install new apps, and apt is just required for the Application Manager which is the default install method. In Debian for example, “apt” (with apt-* default utils, installed by default in Maemo) and “aptitude” are installed by default (also included in the debootstrap method) and have the same high priority.
