I think it uses google talk which means it uses Jingles which is a
different protocol from Ekiga which uses H323.

Wow, that is good news, thanks for replying. Tried it with sipgate.de, the
first 2 or 3 seconds of the call have been muted, but after that it worked
well (still on the 770).

I have with ekiga on my Thinkpad trouble when using the build in mic and
loudspeakers with echos. Is that solved in the 770 and 800 in hardware or
would we see there the same issue and it would only work with headsets (n800)
or earphones (n770)?

Thanks,
Rainer

It is no longer the case, starting with GIZMO 2.0.x.y : you still need a
GIZMO account but you can specify a secondary account with an external
SIP provider.

At least, it will allow us to wait for Ekiga on n800 or SIP provider for
n800 Internet phone call program.

Software is not perfect. Feeds are xml, so it is possible to fetch it
from script, make xslt file and process to html page. Or take gui app,
what makes majority of users comfortable.
I used "snownews" on my i386 box. Depends on ncurses. Now, rawdog is

[maemo-users] Bible Software for N800?

Although I would be skeptical of any commercial Bible software products
becoming available for the N770/N800, anybody have any thoughts on the
chances of 'open source' ones? Sure, one could (for example) use online

I think the program with the best chance of being ported is 'GnomeSword'

Agreed. At the minimum there should be an option for how many
articles to keep in view at any time. Set it for 20 and next time it
refreshes if there are 3 new articles it will show them + 17 old
articles. Currently it's a joke if your refresh interval is very
often, especially if there are few articles being posted.

Re: [maemo-users] Warranty void with third party software!?!?

2007-02-03 Thread Paul Klapperich

This is NOT the case. If you want to be sure, please call Nokia.
Here is the important string of messages you missed in the other
thread. It's partly
my fault you missed his response as Ifailed to reply all, sending once
to the list and once to Ero. His response was to me, not the list, so
only showed up as a quote in my next reply to the list.

Also note the discussion was about heavy modification such as
/deleting important system files/, not simply installing extras, and
the result below is that you mght not get technical /support/ unless
you reflash to factory, but your warranty is still good. Again, call
Nokia if you are not satisfied and report back.

to point me to the Windows flasher "upgrade" utility and tell me to

Thanks, that sounds right. :-)

All,

ability to recover loss due to defective hardware I will be quite dismayed
and will probably never buy Nokia again. Someone please tell me promptly
that this is not the case. This feels like someone telling me that if I
remove Windows from my PC and install Linux I have voided my warranty,

Hi!

I am trying to get gpe calendar on my N770 to sync with my Korganizer
on my linux laptop, but run into problems in setting it up. I am
following instructions on
http://eko.one.pl/index.php?page=GPECalendarSync, but with plugin-kdepim
instead of googlecalendar.

My problem is that I get dependency problems in trying to install
gpesyncd on the Nokia. I download the package from
http://eko.one.pl/maemo/dists/mistral/user/binary-armel/gpesyncd_0.1-20061130svn_armel.deb

But the Nokia wants hildon-libs0 (>=0.12.22-1). I have hildon-libs0
0.12.20.1 installed. How can I upgrade it? Or how to solve this?
