Kismet on Nokia 770: no signal strength?

2007-03-30 Thread Jarkko Palviainen

Hi,
I'm using kismet on Nokia 770 to draw an interpolated power map of a wlan
area. Unfortunately I can't get any signal strength values recorded.
Everything else seems to working, I can create range or tracks from GPS
and network data, but the signal values are signal=0 on the .gps file?
Should this be working and how? Didn't find anything from man pages or
kismet.conf.. I'm running OS 2006 on Nokia.

Thanks,
Jarkko

Problems refreshing application list

2007-03-30 Thread Hinrich Göhlmann

Hi folks,

this is a follow-up post to my original one regarding the offline
installation of files. Even though I am up and running and got the most
important packages installed by first downloading the packages and then
installing them using Application Manager, my original question related to a
problem of which I thought it was only of temporary nature. It does not seem
to be like that... I have checked the list archives and
internettablettalk, but even though I stumble accross postings here and
there dealing remotely with this problem, I still have not figured it out: I
have never been able to obtain an application list in the Application
Manager when selecting Refresh application list. It always stops after a
while and says: Unable to refresh list. Last refreshed list is shown and
the last list is of course completely blank.
In the logs I get the Couldn't stat source package list http://...; and
You may want to run apt-get update. This was like that from the start and
also directly after I flashed the new OS version (I thought this might fix
it). How can this be? What can I do to fix it? I have not yet ventured into
the realms of root... Do I have to? My internet connection otherwise works
perfectly. Any pointers?

Cheers,

Re: Problems refreshing application list

2007-03-30 Thread Jonathan Greene

If you run that in terminal or via ssh you will be able to see which
repository is not working (also your log will show this) and be able
to fix it.

If you just need to install from a file you can always do that from
the menu in applications manager which should skip the repository
refresh / check.

I don't have N800 at my disposal, but I got one answer from Kismet side:
If the driver doesn't report it, you don't get it.

So it's quite hard at the moment.

Hi,
using the gainroot package I switched to root and ran apt-get

manager and tried to refresh. Anyhow, here is the log file. Any ideas?

N800 apps

2007-03-30 Thread Willie McKemie
Last year, I put sshd, xterm, mc, doom, and other useful apps on my
770. I'm now poking around trying to figure out how to do the same
with my 800. And, I'm confused. Can someone point me in the right
direction on installing the proper repositories? There seems to be
much stuff on the maemowiki referencing the 770, but little about
the 800. Can OS2006 apps generally be used under OS2007?

don't have the info handy, but check on both garage.maemo.org and
download.maemo.org. The Wiki is not as current as Garage, though has
a few things you might still need. I've got ssh and term running on
my N800 no problem.

HOT DAMN! Here is what I was looking for:
http://downloads.maemo.org
Don't know how I missed it. Slick! This is a new facility since I
last used my 770.

I got term and ssh installed. Got a root password set and I can ssh
into the 800.

Doom failed; looks like the repository is messed up. Didn't find a
mc that will work for OS2007. Can anyone tell me how to get those
two things installed on a 800?

I've been trying to get my IPaq bt keyboard working; it is recognized,
but I can't get it to pair. As the 800 attempts to pair, it gives
me a four digit number. Am I supposed to use that number on the
keyboard or something? Am I supposed install some additional software?
Anyone else have a IPaq folding keyboard working?

To pair a keyboard you need to enter the four digit code and then
press enter all from the keyboard

It seems the issue remains with few of the apps shipped by Nokia which do
