Try to use OS2007 Hacker Edition. Some libs from bora can be used under OS2006 - libxmu6 for example. Re: Using 'bora' repos on tabletOS2006?
Norman Hacker edition is quite usable. You should give it a shot. Be sure to turn on lots of swap and try not to run too many things at once. No, you won't be able to use any bora apps on os2006. And no, there almost certainly won't be anything more official than hacker edition for 770. Using 'bora' repos on tabletOS2006?
Hello @ all, I am quite new to the internet tablets, and since i only had the money to afford a 770 device, which annoyingly is not suported for (non-hacker) use of tabletOS2007, i would like to know if or how it is possible to install packets from the 'bora' repositories onto my device. Background is that i would like to use software like 'winzig', which requires python - but i haven't found python in the 'mistral' repos. There are also some other programs, i'm interested in (like evince as a replacement for the crappy built-in pdf-reader), but which seem not to appear being in any 'misral' repos. When i tried adding the 'bora-extras free non-free' repo into my sources.list, it only produced a bunch of error-messages when 'apt-get update'ing... Can you please help me, or is what i want principally impossible, until there will hopefully a tabletOS-2007 be released for 770 devices? Marius That was a good idea to look at mencoder. For some reason it gets the wrong audio track sometimes. I think this might be best for a dvd and it works on that problematic title: tablet-encode -m -alang -m en -2 -p average dvd://4 out.avi Brad On Nov 23, 2007 6:54 AM, Luca Olivetti <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > En/na Marius Gedminas ha escrit: > > >> Well, in my case it isn't: I have some vdr recordings that are spanish > >> (first language) and english (second), and with no track specified > >> mencoder selects the second one (english). I hadn't thought of that, but, no, neither /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf nor ~/.mplayer/config have an alang option (well, the first one it has, as an example, but it is commented out). And even if it'd matter for dvds, I doubt it would for vdr recordings since I don't think that the recording itself carries information about the language name, just the ids (I may be wrong though). Good, we have conclusions: - Let's start with a planet-int gathering non-English feeds. Filing an enhancement request at bugs.maemo.org will help following the progress and discussing the details. - http://maemo.org/community/wiki/planetmaemofeedsint/ needs enough feeds proposed for a good start. - Then something better can be planned for next year , covering a first phase of maemo.org i18n. What about a wiki page to be linked from http://maemo.org/community/wiki/roadmapwishlist/ . Now is a good timing for this kind of proposals. This disk has csi-ny tv series... It's odd since according to your lsdvd output there doesn't seem to be a difference. tablet-encode isn't doing anything clever here (perhaps it could[1]) but one solution is to specifically pass the "audioid" flag to mencoder, as Luca Olivetti mentions. However, you /don't/ need to hack the script. You can use the "-m" option on tablet-encode to pass things through to mencoder: tablet-encode -m-aid -m1 dvd://3 ep3.avi There's also -alang, but the value is dependent on the container. For DVDs you can use 'en', for other sources it could be something else. This disk has csi-ny tv series... I had the same problem with vdr recordings, maybe some weirdness in the way mencoder select the audio track if none is specified. For the time being I hard encoded the parameter "-aid 0" in 770-encode. Don't know if that would work with a dvd. Maybe the proper solution would be to add a parameter to the new tablet-encode to specify the audio track, and if none is specified default to "-aid 0". Then add language selection to mediaserv. Then I can try to add vdr support to mediaserv ;-) (no seriously, I hadn't time to look at it yet, but I'll try, the only problem is, I don't know when :-( ) Bye -- Luca ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users
