gps and maps
This is kind of a silly question... I'm looking to get a BT GPS for my n800 and I was wondering something about the capabilities of the map programs for the tablets: Does it talk to you? thanks! Can't become root :-(
I made the mistake of trying fennec on my N800. *BIG* mistake! Not only was it completely unusable without a hardware keyboard, it screwed up MicroB as well. Without access to settings in fennec, I could no longer access any web functions that require javascript. It also screwed up the login memory function - now I have to fill in the username manually, even though I've already chosen it out of the list, before it will fill in the password, thereby defeating the whole purpose of that function. (Through all this, the settings in the dialogs in MicroB remained the same, although I did try changing them and then changing them back to see if that would reset things.) These problems remained even after I uninstalled fennec, so I figured the only way to get it back to the way it was before was to reflash the OS. BIG MISTAKE #2 After reflashing, not only did it make no difference to the browser's password manager (although it did fix the javascript issue), now I no longer have any possibility of becoming root. I've followed the exact same procedure that I did before, and am using the exact same version of OS2008, but now exactly *NONE* of the different ways of becoming root work. Regardless of what I try, I get some variation of this message: @@@ @WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED! @ @@@ IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING NASTY! Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)! It is also possible that the RSA host key has just been changed. Add correct host key in /home/user/.ssh/known_hosts to get rid of this message. Offending key in /home/user/.ssh/known_hosts:5 RSA host key for localhost has changed and you have requested strict checking. Host key verification failed. I'm about ready to run over this piece of crap with my truck! Whose incredibly stupid idea was it to disable the owner's root access in these devices, anyway? Or simply try to delete/rename /home/user/.ssh/known_hosts. Or install becomeroot and issue a sudo gainroot and, once you've done it, disable root access via ssh (by editing /etc/ssh/sshd_config, it's fully commented). If you know what you're doing you should also disable password authentication altogether and only allow public key authentication (there are many tutorials explaining how to do it). The host identification for the ssh-server is generated when the ssh-server is first installed, so it is different every time; your restored known_hosts knows the old identification so it sees a mismatch. Since in this case you know that the identification change is benign, you can use ssh-keygen -R localhost to remove the old fingerprint in known_hosts.
