Re: Maemo mapper on N770

2008-05-29 Thread Magnus Larsson
Hi!

Great, hope for a solution! But: Do you know precisely which versions we
are talking about? Do you mean installing MM version 2.x for OS2006 and
then updating to MM version 2.x for OS2007? Or installing version 1.x
for OS2006 and then updating?

Actually, I've had problems installing MM version 1.x as well, because
of dependency problems (needs higher version of sqlite) that installer
does not solve.

After you scan for your GPSr, does its bluetooth MAC address
permanently appear in the settings? MM appears to use gpsd even if
"bluetooth" is selected and "gpsd" is not, if the bluetooth address
box is left blank. If the scan function doesn't permanently save the
MAC address in the settings, you may need to do it manually.

Maemo IU locking up

2008-05-29 Thread Torsten Hoefler
Hi,
I am running the newest OS2008 on a N810. And I have problems with the
OS (I guess). The IU locks up from time to time with 100% CPU load (the
CPU load applet shows full system load) and pretty much stops
responding. I can not open any windows anymore (it just draws the white
background after a delay of >30 seconds but no widgets).

This happens from time to time (after several hours) also when I don't
use the device (also in offline mode), i.e., it's just sitting around
doing nothing. Something seems to use the CPU extensively because the
battery is drained quickly (2-3hrs) after it starts.

I tried to debug via ssh, and see a constant system load >2 but no
process besides "maemo-launcher" consuming about 20% (why does this
process run all the time? What does it do?). I also see Xomap from time
to time (what does this do?). It looks like top (running as root) is not
showing all the processes? Is this possible?

It seems to be only the IU that locks up (ssh works fine).

Thanks & Best,
  Torsten

It's not showing useful names for maemo-launched [1] apps. Look in
/proc//cmdline, grep ps, or use htop (from the sdk repo, alas;
beware of sharp edges). Xomap is the X server. It's not so much
necessary to use the CPU extensively to drain power; just very frequently.
