I guess nothing really helpful

/usr/bin/controlpanel[2835]: GLIB DEBUG default -
hildon_help_dialog_help_enable: Setting help topic
"Connectivity_Internetsettings_settingsdialoggeneral"

The folder is empty. The control panel didn't really crash. It just
hangs and than I kill it (after question from the gui). Can I start
connectivity settings directly from the shell without the control panel?

To my other question: The $DISPLAY is set by default to the N810 "X" and
starting a graphical app over ssh will automatically run on the N810.
Just mentioned for other newbies..

Keywan

thanks, I asked because I want create a helpful bugreport. In general,
can I do this also via ssh? Can I set something like the $DISPLAY, like
on "normal" Linux/X systems?

Garrr. Of course not "Notes", but the Controlpanel.
Sorry for the noise.

Please run Notes in a terminal window (Applications Menu -> Utilities >
X Terminal, then run the command
"maemo-summoner /usr/bin/controlpanel.launch > log 2>&1") and attach the
resulting "log" file after it has crashed.

Having a core dump could be even more useful. It requires installing the
"sp-rich-core" package from the tools repository[1] and creating a
"core-dumps" directory to the memory card with at least few megabytes of
free space. You can get core dumps also without the rich-core package,
but they are much less useful (and without it pre-installed applications
core dumps are then named maemo-launcher-*).

Ah, don't misunderstand that... :)
It was just the request to file seperate tickets for each issue and not
list several in one report. We are definitely interested in your

I cannot even report a single bug report, so it's an exercise in
futility to try to report more than one.
Don't worry though, I won't bother you with more bug reports, life is
too short.

Do as I say and you can reproduce it, at least it happens to me every
time I do what I tried to report as a bug (at least 2 and 3,
unfortunately, or fortunately since it's a real pita, I couldn't
reproduce at will 1)

browser/browserd combo unpredictable and unreliable behaviour

2008-07-27 Thread Luca Olivetti
This was meant to be a bug report, but since the bugtracker is
following the fate of the repositories (i.e. it's currently borked)
here it goes.

SOFTWARE VERSION:
4.2008.23-14

The new combo browser/browserd is very unreliable. Things that happened to me
so far:

1) Browser apparently hangs or closes due to an "internal error". Sometimes
killing browserd is enough, sometimes you have to restart it and sometimes a
reboot is the annoying only way out.

2) Sometimes when you "open a link in a new window" and quickly try to switch
to the original window (this is necessary since there's no "open in background
window" option), the link will be opened in the original window and the new
window remains blank with the url pointing to the old location.

3) Sometimes it is futile to try to select a window in the taskbar since the
browser will put in the foreground whatever window it choses (usually the one
it has just loaded).

None of this happened with chinook.

Cant access connectivity settings

2008-07-27 Thread Keywan Najafi Tonekaboni
Hi,

since I added my new phone (Sony-Eric. W810i) to my N810 I can't access
the "Connectivity settings" anymore, neither from the "Control panel"
nor from the applet.

If I try it from the Control panel, the Control panel crashs. If I try
it from the wireless applet, the panel (or the hildon desktop?) crashs.
I only can push the on/off button and restart the N810.

I'd like to add a bug-report, but how I can dig more information.

Regards,

Keywan
