Keeping the stupid-top-posting...

don't bother about epsilon, it is dead... I'm holding the Canola
gentoo packages until I get ProFUSION's ethumb patches merged in...
then no more epsilon required.

OTOH, etk is still required. It works, but if someone is willing to
help, please start converting etk dialogs to elementary.

Main question is whether you have any sort of connection to the internet
when you're trying to get a GPS lock? For me GPS on N900 works uber-fast, I
mean it's pretty much instant whenever I use it (Google Maps, Map Buddy, OVI
etc.). However, I tend to have device always online, so it most likely uses
that to download additional GPS data.

gPodder on OS2007?

2010-02-13 Thread chombee
Hey, I noticed that gPodder is only available for OS2008 and later:

http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/gpodder/?org_openpsa_qbpager_net_nehmer_comments_comment_page=2

Has anyone got it working on OS2007? Do you think it's possible?

Actually I can add podcasts to the feed reader application that ships
with OS2007 and when I click on the attachment links they open in the
media player and it starts streaming them. So far this method seems to
handle podcasts adequately. But gPodder would sync my list of podcasts
between the handheld and other instances of gPodder on other computers,
so if I come across a podcast at work I can add it to gPodder on my work
PC and it would automatically popup on gPodder on my handheld when I get
home. gPodder would also download the files for offline playback later
instead of streaming them (maybe you can click to download files in the
OS2007 feed reader, I'm not sure). I definitely consider it a luxury,
and gPodder may not run well on my 770, but if it worked it would be
pretty convenient!

I use the 810 tablets to collect proof of receipt signatures - bluetooth
barcode scanner to scan the package, script to prepare a form with date,
package data, signee's name and xournal to load the form and sign it.
The documents are rsync-ed to the server. It is a bit of a kludge, but it
works.

I'd love to get an app that would allow me to see and interact with the
N810 screen from both the pad and another computer - that would be great
for signatures at the counter.

I use Xournal for that. It can annotate .pdf documents. I fill out an
ever growing list of forms like that and sign them.

Ok great, so it *should* help Ovi Maps acquire a lock more successfully.

All we can do is wait for Ovi Maps to become a proper navigation application :(

Great, thanks for the help.

Much to my delight and surprise you can just create a SIP account within the
VoIP and IM accounts in the settings pane.

Once you have it added there and its listed in your addressbook entry you can
make SIP calls from there. I have my SIP account added there, and nowhere else
and I make and receive calls daily.

Works very well.

Alternatively, I did see Fring is available, but since the support is native
for SIP, I don't need it.

Hope that helps,

By this do you mean the Windows Map Loader, or the Ovi Map client to load onto
the device? I have the Map Loader app on my PC since using Ovi Maps on my
E61/71.

I did try but can't see if it's actually worked.

Ok good to know that. Are they stored in the 32GB of user memory, or in the 1GB
of application memory?

Do you have the file location just to see if it has worked?

Yep that's exactly what I do with my E71.

Thanks I'll give it a whirl.

It is integrated (quite well actually)

touch statusbar (clock/battery area)->Availability-> accounts (scroll down) ->
new -> pick 'SIP'

I link to my local asterisk

You can do it without any extra software by downloading the
appropriate zips and copying them onto your N900 when it is attached
to your computer in mass storage mode:

N-series used to have a lot of great SIP clients including Gizmo,
however since the company was bought by google. Development stop and

providers but if I got a third party voip provider I would also like
