N900 power consumption
Hi, After a few weeks of usage my up time before the battery was completely drained was less than 7 hours (during this time the unit was idle; completely unused). I started disabling services following the suggestions in some of the other threads discussing battery duration. Widgets, skype, they all went. But to my surprise, the biggest power hog was the sip account. When I disabled it my up-time was more reasonable. Anyone knows a way to reduce the power consumption without disabling the account? Some of the advanced options I don't really know what they do. It's really a shame because I was so pleased to finally have found a mobile sip client that really works. Any suggestions are appreciated. best, /henrik ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users

The main thing is i know only to enter *121# to get my credit balance in the first step configuration of USSD widget. Rest of the things i couldn't understand. like Praser for widget , Enable Banner Praser , Chain , Regular Expression etc... By the way do i need to uninstall the USSD widget & install this from HAM (where can i find this HAM any link pls) Regards, -- Khalid Khan On Wed, Apr 21, 2010 at 5:59 PM, Thomas Tanner wrote: > You need to go into desktop configuration mode of your desktop (tap on > top right corner) and then click in the wrench symbol of the widget to > configure it. > > Don't install deb packages from websites! > Use HAM and install ussd-widget from there. > > On 21.04.10 15:49, khalid khan wrote: > > Andre the error is not in the image which i sent in the email but an eg. > > that how it should have been worked. > > > > When i add the USSD widget on the N900 desktop it appears as "Click to > > update" when i click it goes for "Processing" for few seconds then shows > > "Error" then return backs to "Click to update". > > > > After installing rootsh from Application Manager & installing all > > support files like : Python Hildon,Python Hildon Desktop > > Loader,Pexpect,USSD Pad, USSD Common & USSD Widget in the N900 root file > > I followed those steps in X Terminal as in the link > > > > > http://lovemynokia.com/how-to-check-credit-and-other-details-in-nokia-n900-with-a-touch-of-a-widget > > > > Only it worked in USSD Pad where you have to click the pad enter the > > number press send then message appears which normally takes time It has > > to be in one click, as the number is pre-typed. > > > -- > Thomas Tanner -- > email: tan...@gmx.de > GnuPG: 1024/5924D4DD > ___ > maemo-users mailing list > maemo-users@maemo.org > https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users > ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users
Re: What is the risk to enable RD Mode in X Terminal on N900?
You need to go into desktop configuration mode of your desktop (tap on top right corner) and then click in the wrench symbol of the widget to configure it. Don't install deb packages from websites! Use HAM and install ussd-widget from there. Re: What is the risk to enable RD Mode in X Terminal on N900?
Andre the error is not in the image which i sent in the email but an eg. that how it should have been worked. When i add the USSD widget on the N900 desktop it appears as "Click to update" when i click it goes for "Processing" for few seconds then shows "Error" then return backs to "Click to update". After installing rootsh from Application Manager & installing all support files like : Python Hildon,Python Hildon Desktop Loader,Pexpect,USSD Pad, USSD Common & USSD Widget in the N900 root file I followed those steps in X Terminal as in the link http://lovemynokia.com/how-to-check-credit-and-other-details-in-nokia-n900-with-a-touch-of-a-widget Only it worked in USSD Pad where you have to click the pad enter the number press send then message appears which normally takes time It has to be in one click, as the number is pre-typed. I already did install the USSD widget using Application Manager but it is not working showing "error" when I "click to update" on the desktop USSD widget may be because of improper settings. Can you please help me to guide step by step settings in the USSD widget avoiding to use X Terminal. What is the risk to enable RD Mode in X Terminal on N900?
Hello, I found this link " http://lovemynokia.com/how-to-check-credit-and-other-details-in-nokia-n900-with-a-touch-of-a-widget " which has given all the information to install & use USSD Widget on Nokia N900 which is quite impressive. But when i tried the first step in X Terminal by entering sudo gainroot it shows " Enable RD mode if you want to break your device " what does it mean? Is enabling the RD mode dangerous to usual functions of N900 operations or does it makes device out of warranty If it is not harmful to device functionality then how can i enable it. There is a RAM calculation done in hildon-desktop before starting new applications, to avoid extreme slowness in the system when RAM gets too tight. Perhaps the calculation does not handle this swapless situation well. Web browser page load issues
I frequently experience very weird and frustrating problem with built-in web browser in my N900, which is basically quite long lag between launching a given URL and getting that URL to actually start loading. Say I type a " www.google.com" URL in address bar, hit enter and expect the page to load instantly (assumed stable and fast internet connection in the background, obviously), however what *usually* happens is that progress bar under the address bar slides right<->left back and forth for quite a while (sometimes couple of seconds, sometimes tens of seconds!) before it eventually "clicks" and starts loading the page - which is quite instant itself. It's *just*about that lag before the page loading occurs. Firefox/Fennec, apart from being a massive resource hog to the point where whole device becomes unusable, is very good with instant page loading, so I think background internet connectivity issues are beyond the suspicion. Does anyone experience that problem? Is that something that could be tweaked/managed or it's just a bug to be filed in bugzilla? -- Dawid 'evad' Lorenz * http://adl.pl null://google 'no evil' mail has taken away my random signatures ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users
