The application has only just been released. Therefore it is not yet
available in the end-user targetted Downloads (which maps to the
Extras repository, available in Application Manager). The source is in
 gitorious, not the package itself.

 Some appropriate links:

  * http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=68249
  * http://maemo.org/packages/view/mediabar/

The latter shows that is currently only available in Extras-devel.
Software in Extras-devel should only be used if you are willing to
risk a reflash. General updates of packages should not be accepted
from Extras-devel if they include updates to software you require to
 work.

Once Mohammad is satisfied with the quality, he will promote it to
Extras-testing. Here, less brave users can test the application and
ensure it meets the community's QA standards. Once checked, it will
then end up in Downloads Extras.

Not Enough Space in Application Install Memory

2010-07-07 Thread khalid khan
Hi,

I am facing a problem to install new applications either from OVI or
through App.Manager (from maemo.org)

My N900 phone memory: 15.42 GB available Memory for installable
applications is 240.9 MB available

Even though I am just installing a simple app for eg. Shopper which is
only 125 kB i get this message Pop Up: Not enough space in
application install memory Uninstall some applications to free enough
space for this installation

So I don't understand why this is happening, how can I rectify this.

top being started and running in the terminal naturally consumes
some resources from the system, but you don't need to care about that.

Just wait 10 secs after starting top for things to stabilize a bit
and then paste the output from top here so that people can comment
on what looks to be wrong.

How do i close all (which ever is using more % CPU) application by command
in X Terminal. I am new to this.
Because when I write top in X Terminal it pulls all the processes running
i cannot do anything later,If click on the scroll keys up down it keeps
scrolling get backs to same. I cannot find page end to type anything
there.

Also the on screen key like Ctrl , Esc, Page Up , Page Down doesn't seems to
help.

Is there any other way to close this more % CPU apps to close.

How to restore multimedia files back to N900 after updating PR1.2

2010-05-27 Thread khalid khan
Yesterday I received OTA ! for Maemo 5 from Nokia, It deemed to look like an
over the air update but actually it asked me to connect via USB to PC having
Nokia Software Updater

After I updated my N900 from version 3 to new firmware 10.2010.19-1.003 the
ussd is working fine also the gtalk video calls are quite good.

But Unfortunately my multimedia (video, photos, songs) are not showing up even
though it is already in there in respective folder path (video folder, songs
folder photos folder)
I can watch video if i go through the whole path that is Device memory-Video
folder - Respective File same way to photos songs.

So Is this an bug from PR1.2 update or there is no option provided user
needs to store back freshly all the files to show up in the multimedia.

Please help guys.

 1. Complain and ask them if they block gtalk. They may or may not unblock

What is the risk to enable RD Mode in X Terminal on N900?

2010-04-21 Thread khalid khan
Hello,

I found this link
http://lovemynokia.com/how-to-check-credit-and-other-details-in-nokia-n900-with-a-touch-of-a-widget

which has given all the information to install use USSD Widget on Nokia
N900 which is quite impressive.

But when i tried the first step in X Terminal by entering sudo gainroot it
shows Enable RD mode if you want to break your device

what does it mean? Is enabling the RD mode dangerous to usual functions of
N900 operations or does it makes device out of warranty

If it is not harmful to device functionality then how can i enable it.

Thanks

Maybe negative results fo using RD should be listed on

Andre the error is not in the image which i sent in the email but an eg.
that how it should have been worked.

When i add the USSD widget on the N900 desktop it appears as Click to
update when i click it goes for Processing for few seconds then shows
Error then return backs to Click to update.

After installing rootsh from Application Manager installing all support
files like : Python Hildon,Python Hildon Desktop Loader,Pexpect,USSD Pad,
USSD Common USSD Widget in the N900 root file I followed those steps in X
Terminal as in the link

http://lovemynokia.com/how-to-check-credit-and-other-details-in-nokia-n900-with-a-touch-of-a-widget

Only it worked in USSD Pad where you have to click the pad enter the number
press send then message appears which normally takes time It has to be in
one click, as the number is pre-typed.

Thanks
Khalid

Use HAM and install ussd-widget from there.

Re: How to Install new plug in for N900 Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2

2010-04-20 Thread khalid khan
So that means we cannot play video files from youtube on N900 because the
problem what I am facing is to load the webpage of youtube from mozilla or
firefox it usually takes a lot more time ( 5 min or so) when i am using in
3G-Data Package or Wi-Fi connection also i don't have any other apps
running background.

This is not only with youtube but other websites which are associated with
youtube videos, there is lot more delays in loading up video page even
though the video clip is for 1-3 min.

Very rarely some of the video plays i think this is due to the current
version of Adobe 9.4 which supports those videos.

But when i simply load the youtube page play some video it shows an icon
(like puzzle) below written as click this to add plug-in after clicking
it shows GO UPGRADE clicking it takes to Adobe website shows version
10.0.45.2 for Linux

I didn't have this problem while i purchased N900 start playing videos on
the web. Is this common problem to N900 users or Is this due to schedule
upgrade or maintenance by youtube.

AFAIK, the latest version of Flash for Maemo is still the original 9.4
The version you quote is a typical PC version.

ussd-widget

2010-04-20 Thread khalid khan
Hi,

I stay in UAE frequently used to check the no.*121# to check prepaid
balance *144*3# to check usage of Data Package (Internet)

But N900 doesn't support this numbers giving error message as Incorrect /
Invalid No.

I have already update the firmware to 3.2010.02-8.003 , (RX-51)

I was told by Nokia care center here in Dubai that at the moment it is not
supporting but in future software release they will update I have to wait.

I came across USSD widget which i have downloaded but i cannot understand
the settings properly as i am new to maemo, I need tech support to do this
successfully.

Thanks

Hey Marcel,

Thank you so much for your help.

There is no the ROM, theres one ROM for every game. The data you
download as a ROM is exactly what the SNES, Gameboy, whatever (In this
case the emulator) reads from it's game cartridge.
 Regarding the link: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=snes+rom
[Which is not meant offensive, its just dead easy in this case]
 Have fun! :)

  Hello Khalid,

You need to download the game ROMs from the internet. You
  might find

  Please note
that downloading is, as far as I know, only legal if you own
  the
original game. Of course this only applies to commercial roms.
  There are
some sites which provide free/open-source games for SNES and

Re: Invalid/Incorrect Number

2010-03-21 Thread khalid khan
Hi,

I am facing the similar problem as posted earlier by flukebox.

In UAE one of the service providers has given facility to check account
balance *121# data package plan usage check *144*3# instantly after
dialing it but my N900 does not support it , either it supports *##
*#06# and I did check with Nokia Customer careline but they said me to
reinstall the latest firmware which i already updated 1 week back when i
purchased this phone as OTA was available on the screen.

I tried to go into your link given below download the file source but it
does'nt seem to install perhaps it stopped my application manager other
files.

So is there any follow up step by step method to download install the file
 come out of this bug.

Thanks

  Hi All,
When I type *123# number from my Nokia n900 running Maemo 5, it says
 invalid number.
This number *123# is service specific number from my service provider
 and used for balance enquiry.
Does anyone facing same issue ?
Do we already have a bug for this ?
Do we have work around for this ?
Please note that this number works fine with other cell phones.

   Thanks,

PS: Sorry, if i post on the wrong mailing list. Please redirect me to
the correct place. I guess this is nokia firmware specific thing but not
