[maemo-users] can't write on mmc

2006-08-18 Thread Krischan Keitsch
Hi List,

the filemanager as well as mc tells me that I can't write on my 1g mmc. It
pretends to be 'write only'.
How can that be? Even as root. mount doesn't tell me anything about ro or rw.
Does it have to do with the vfat filesystem? Could I also use ext2 or even
ext3?
any help is aprechiated. Thank you!

Krischan

maybe you should write onto your mmc card fresh new filesystem?
it seems that crash occurs significantly often when device proceeds
with i/o (i.e. write) and you suddenly turn it off without any chance to
finish pending process

I managed to break mine once while doing swap on MMC and doing
heavy/long reads.

[maemo-users] Can't write on mmc -- update

2006-07-18 Thread Zrz
Hello list,

I noticed that I can't write on my mmc. I checked mount to find out if the mmc
got mounted as read only. Well, looked okay, but dmesg gives me the followin:

...
AT: Filesystem panic (dev mmcblk0)
[ 117.857055] fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 0)
[ 117.857147] File system has been set read-only
[ 117.935119] FAT: Filesystem panic (dev mmcblk0)
[ 117.935211] fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 0)
[ 118.072204] FAT: Filesystem panic (dev mmcblk0)
[ 118.072265] fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 0)
[ 118.167205] FAT: Filesystem panic (dev mmcblk0)
[ 118.167266] fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 0)
...

Lookes like the filesystem got a punch during the countless crashes the itos06
causes mostly due to use of web browser and mulimedia. Do I have to unplug the
mmc to fsch.vfat it on my linux desktop? No other way? Imagine being on the
road and ...

Any help and hints are wellcome. Thank you!

Cheers Krischan
