Moving to an app other than xterm, then coming back to xterm will stop this
behavior.

i got the little stowaway keyboard and i've been annoyed with this
behavior too. i have been hitting control-m to get returns. this
keyboard also has / in the wrong place so i keep moving up the cursor
when i'm trying to write a pathname...

to make a comment on the original thread... activating my 30mb swap will
cause the nokia to start displaying memory-low warnings and eventually
reboot. i'll try 24mb next.

Hi,

I noticed this on your site:
"The only annoying thing is that the Return key opens and closes
the virtual keyboard in the xterm."

Is your BT keyboard full size? If yes, by pressing
number pad enter, the input method doesn't seem to be invoked.
I guess one could try swapping the Return and Enter
keys around with xmodmap.

(I would hope this is fixed in some future release)

Thanks, swapping now works fine with 31MB.

yes, see my update at www.dillernet.com/apple ---

you must use _less_ than 32 megs of swap.

I'm using a 24 meg swap partition and it works great.

[maemo-users] problems after 'swapon /dev/mmcblk0p2' with 3.2005.51-13

2006-01-13 Thread Armin M. Warda
  Hi,

similiar as described by Tommy Cheng in

  http://www.dillernet.com/apple/2005/12/27/making-swap/#comments

I partitioned my 512MB RS-MMC into two partitions:

  /dev/mmcblk0p1 = 470MB fat16/vfat
  /dev/mmcblk0p2 = 40MB swap

I have not yet added the /var/lib/install/etc/init.d/mmcswap.sh script
to auto-detect & -activate the /dev/mmcblk0p2 swap device on boot.
Before I do this, I want to verify, that it does not render the 770
unusable. And here's my problem:

When I manually activate the swap from the osso-xterm with

  swapon /dev/mmcblk0p2

most of the time, the 770 reboots within 2-4 seconds.

Sometimes it keeps running, but a popup with a low memory warning
appears immediately after the 'swapon' and I am not able to open any
application, the 770 keep on complaining about low memory. And the
'free' command tells me that the swap is not used at all.

  Has anybody seen this before?

My 770 is on release 3.2005.51-13.

  Armin.
