Doesn't Easy Debian expect that you are running from the built-in memory? Maybe it is confused since you are running from your external card. I noticed that you can install easy debian without all the included apps. So I think I will try that first. All I really want to be able to do is run R on the tablet and this seems like an easier way compared to trying to compile R for Maemo.
