Re: Internal MMC suddenly read-only...

2007-03-24 Thread Neil MacLeod

I recently had a problem with a "corrupt" FAT filesystem SD card - I reinserted it
several times into the N800 but each time the N800 would refuse to mount the card as it was
"corrupt".

I mounted the card once (and only once) in a Windows XP PC where I could read
all the files just fine, so I returned the card to the N800 where it mounted
immediately and without complaint from the N800.

I've no idea what changed, but seemingly the Windows PC silently "repaired"
whatever the N800 was objecting to.

Hi!

This has happened to me some times. It seems the file system on the card
gets broken so what I did is backup my files, format the card and
restore them later.

If you have some utility for restoring FAT file systems you could try
it, otherwise, you better format the card.

Bye!

Check and repair it. Use diskcheck in windows (right click drive letter,
properties, tools, error-checking, check now). In linux there is
fsck.vfat command.

[NOT SOLVED] Internal MMC suddenly read-only...

2007-03-23 Thread Tim
I lied... I just tried doing a backup to the card and it told me it's
still read-only.
Any idea how I can fix this without reformatting the card?
(Although, I can, I'd like to know how to do this for real.)
 Thanks,
 Tim

 Hi,
My N800 crashed during a file transfer to MMC2 and now MMC2 says
that it is read-only... And, I can't figure out how to change it back
to writable!
In the N800 File Manager, the Read Only checkbox won't let me
uncheck it... I've tried via Windows as well as in xTerm, to no
avail.
Is there some other way to fix this?
 Thanks,
 Tim
