I would like one that protects the unit, perhaps has built in slots for
space memory cards, and allows easy use of the unit.

I went with a case from Fortte for the case to my n810
http://www.fortte.com/226/Nokia-N800-leather-case/.

I'll second that. I've had a Fortte case for my Palm TX for years. It's
very well made. I was on a waiting list for them to release the N810 case
and got one as soon as it was available.

Is anyone able to recommend a case for the N800?

I would like one that protects the unit, perhaps has built in slots for

I've been using this for year and a half:
http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-SU31-N800-Carrying-Case/dp/B000QG65CU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8s=wirelessqid=1254819748sr=8-3

Nice one, allows you to remove it quickly. Protects the screen. Does
not cover 3.5mm and USB, so you still can listen to radio or whatever.

The only drawback I hate is the increased weight of the device as
you'll have to glue metal plate to the device's back panel.

Anyway, I'll be preset at The Summit so you can have a close look.

I've used the cases from pdair for my n800

I've been really happy with this one:
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1010_190_1189products_id=6346
but you can't open the stand or access the USB port or SD slot with it
on. That isn't an issue for me because even though it fits snugly and
perfectly it's really easy to slip on and off. They have different
types of leather cases as well. I also have an Invisible Shield from
http://www.zagg.com/ , and between the two my N800 is still looking
pristine after nearly two years of hard use and being knocked around
in my pack.

I've been using an inexpensive notebook/personal planner with a zipper
that I picked up at Target (stationary aisle) for about $5. It has a
couple slots and space for holding things (like memory cards, small USB
to Nokia cable charger, credit card and a couple bucks), plus a small
pen and a pad of paper. The store I bought it at had some ugly color
choices, but that seems to make it harder to misplace. I removed about
half the paper and it fits the n800 quite snuggly. If you unzip it a
bit, you can charge it while in the case. It fits in the average coat
pocket. You do have to remove the n800 from the case to use it.

Always, Fred C.
