Re: Opera 10 alpha for maemo

2010-05-13 Thread Gary
I've been pretty impressed with Opera so far on my N800. I'm experimenting
with their bookmark syncing tool, too. My only complaint so far has been
that some sites don't yet recognize its user agent string to allow it to see
some mobile optimized content. I haven't figured out cut paste yet either
which would simplify moving my bookmarks from MicroB...

Can you give an impression of the applications opening and closing speed?

N810: open in 4 secs.

General impression is that this flies on n810, and generally beats
Tear in every respect. Didn't try on N900, but wouldn't expect any
less.

Did you try the recent 1.1 beta (or any of the latest nightlies)? I've had
exactly same experience like you, but it seems the recent builds have
improved quite a lot and Fennec become actually... usable.

Same here, but I'm quite impressed with post-1.0 releases of FF. However,
I'd still rather avoid opening more than 2-3 tabs at once.

I like Opera so far. It's much faster than the original FF. I'll install a
newer version of FF and see how it goes.

I've got Opera installed yesterday, works surprisingly well, but haven't
tested it thoroughly yet.

Just installed it on my N900 and opened up a couple websites. the onscreen
keyboard works well enough on that, and I imagine it is better on the larger
N800 screen. I am looking forward to giving this a try on my older device when
I get home.

If Mr. Opera is reading this, please ensure that this can be installed
for PR 1.2 (which is using fremantle-1.2 instead of just fremantle
repository) as well. TIA.
